Ahmad Roper's nominator wishes to remain anonymous.

Mr. Roper is a high school teacher and the head track & field coach at Eisenhower High School. In this position, he educates, teaches, guides, empowers, motivates and inspires kids of all ages to see and reach their full potential. Mr. Roper received a bachelor and master degrees in education from Prairie View A&M University.

Mr. Roper is an advocate for his community and has accomplished so much. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., voted 2000 'Sigma of the Year', and a 2017 'Be A Modern Man' Ambassador. In 2016, he was awarded the Prairie View A&M University 40 under 40 Award, the 40 under 40 Teacher Award, and the Houston Humanitarian Award. This year, he was awarded the 2017 Houston Coaches Association Leadership Award, was voted to Who's Who in Black Houston 9th Edition Magazine, and was recognized on Proclamation Day by Mayor Sylvester Turner.

Over the years, Mr. Roper has started several boys' youth organizations. In 2003, he founded the Boys 2 Men Club at Timberwood Middle School, and in 2005, he founded the Sigma Beta Club at Atascocita High School. In 2015, Mr. Roper founded The Houston Village Foundation, a 501(c)3 non- profit organization that provides activities and programs designed to give Houston’s disadvantaged youth a chance at a better future through healthy relationships with mentors. It focuses on Economic and Career Development with students between the ages of 8-18. Mr. Roper is a strong believer that "it still takes a village to raise a child."  

Mr. Roper takes pride in his ability to transcend many barriers, along with his strong faith and positive attitude which has led to his many successes. He is a native of Houston, TX and a proud father of his son, Jordan.
