Music that Describes Jennifer

Jennifer Shipp was nominated by her colleague, Laura Myers.

She's known as Jenn to her colleagues and Mrs. Shipp to the students, but no matter the name, she is a dynamic influence on nearly 700 students and staff members' lives.  She shows up for every PTA meeting and donates countless hours of her time to school improvement projects. Last year, she spent a weekend preparing a bathroom so the students could be involved in painting it. Additionally, she is actively involved in the betterment of the school through Leader in Me leadership, and she is always there as a listening ear whenever anyone asks.

"She constantly seeks to raise the bar of excellence in our school," said Myers. "Quite frankly, this school is such a wonderful place in part because Jenn cares enough to make it so."

This is only my third year as Mrs. Shipp’s colleague. In my first year, while she was a Title teacher, it was easy to see the passion that she had for helping our students succeed, and how much effort she put into everything that went on in our school. I feel like she personally knew every single one of our nearly 700 students, and that they all adored her. When Jenn left Title to become our instructional coach, her passion for the success of our students is still coming through in our classroom teachers, and she’s still making herself seen in the halls, being involved in everything and still just as loved by our students. It even brings a tear to my eye how her students from previous years, who have moved on to middle school or high school, have come in just to see her. She truly has been, and still is, a life-changer. Thanks, Jenn, for all you’ve done and continue to do!!

Jennifer Shipp is one of the most dedicated educators I know. I have taught along side of her for 15 years and have witnessed her love of children and ability to make personal connections with even the toughest children. They begin to trust her and, therefore, open themselves to learn. She has a vast and diversified block of knowledge and resourses that she uses and implements flawlessly to touch thousands of young lives and the families they are a part of. There is none more deserving of this award. Congratulations on your nomination, Jennifer!

Jenn Shipp has yet to greet me with a smile! She has supported me as a parent and a coworker. No matter what I am dealng with, whether it's a challenge facing the PTA or on a more personal level, she's got a listening ear, shoulder to lean on, and encouragement ready. And not one single thing has been brought to her that hasn't been met with ideas or the offer of assistance in whatever way it's needed. She is knowledgeable, positive, and fierce in her love for this school and its students!!

I can unequivocally ratify this nomination of Jennifer Shipp for this prestigious award. In the time that I have worked with her at Oregon Trail Elementary School she has exhibited selfless time, energy, passion, and support to anyone she works with. I have worked with her through some very difficult situations and she has proven to always have my six. She is an asset to our school that cannot be replaced! A jewel in the crown of the teachers we have at our school and in our district. She supports all the teachers, all the parents, all the neighboring faculty, and the community in her pursuits of her professional position.

"LIFECHANGER" is the perfect title for Mrs. Shipp to claim. My children have attended Oregon trail for 4 years, and over the course of these years, I have witnessed the selfless, giving, dedicated, and loving nature she imposes on her students, colleagues and Oregon Trail family. While volunteering and engaging periodically in the school, I am always amazed at how involved she is. She constantly shows up, helps out, and takes initiative to support the PTA and staff when she doesn't have to. She truly cares for her students and the people she works with. Oregon Trail would not be the same without her and honestly, I can't think of anyone else more deserving of this accolade.

Mrs. Shipp is SO deserving of this award! I taught with her for several years and I was so impressed with her as a colleague. My own children were then lucky enough to have her as a teacher and she definitely changed their lives. She is amazing in all that she does!
