Chelsi Sturm was nominated by her colleague, Maggie Fink.
"I have had the great honor of teaching alongside Chelsi this year," said Fink. "As a first year teacher, I have had many questions every day. She has been a great help to help me assimilate into the school, and she has so many great ideas and tricks for only being a second year teacher. On top of all of this, she is currently taking college classes to further her degree, as well as raising her six-month old baby."
"Chelsi is extremely positive and works well with anybody in our building," said Fink. "She is already so great at building relationships with kids, and she is very approachable when I have questions. Chelsi is a joy to have around; she never puts anyone down and is always receptive to others' thoughts and feelings. I am overjoyed to be her co-teacher and look forward to planning projects with and working along side with her throughout the years. Our school feels like a home, not a business, and this is mainly due to Chelsi's influence."
Ms. Sturm is an enthusiastic, fun, and caring teacher. She provides a very positive and encouraging classroom for all of her kids. She is understanding & patient and builds great relationships with her students. I am so grateful to have Ms. Sturm as part of our Kennedy family!

While in her second year of teaching, Ms. Sturm operates as a veteran teacher at Kennedy Elementary School. Ms. Sturm is a very influential teacher who strives daily to ensure she builds positive relationships with all students and provides quality yet fun instruction for all students in her classroom. Over the past two years, Ms. Sturm has worked with very challenging student scenarios and has dealt with these issues with ease. She is calm and compassionate in all instances. Ms. Sturm's smile and upbeat attitude can lighten the atmosphere and encourage a welcoming environment for students, parents, and staff. Ms. Sturm is a essential part of our Kennedy team, and our building would not be the same without her.
Chelsi is a great addition to our staff. She has been with us for 2 years and has taught 2 different grade levels. She is teaching 3rd grade this year and is part of an awesome 3rd grade team. It is wonderful to see such enthusiastic teachers at the beginning of their careers. I am glad she is part of our Kennedy family.
As Chelsi's mentor, I have had a chance to observe her as a teacher. She has created a classroom atmosphere that is amazing. The students feel safe and that their teacher cares about them. This creates a great learning environment. She plans learning activities that are both fun and relevant. This is her second year in teaching and I feel she will have a inspiring career.
Chelsi, watching you teach the last 2 years has been a wonderful experience. I know as a new mom your first and second year teaching it can be hard to find a balance. You have done a wonderful job at both. Your students look up to you and love being in your class. Your smile can change the attitude of room. Keep up the great work Chelsi you are an amazing teacher and colleague.

Chelsi your father & I are so proud of you! We know you have put so much into your schooling without our help, from filling out all the paperwork to pay for 1/2 of your education costs. You never complain & are always thinking of the students in all you do. If anything would ever hold you back, it would be that you can't adopt all the students that you'd love to help when they need a parent figure. We love your great heart & can do attitude!!
