"I am in awe with Mrs. Jana Gill and all that she is," said Brent-Harris. "She is a loving kindergarten teacher who touches the lives of her students, staff, and the community. She has an enthusiasm that is contagious to her students and colleagues. Jana has a warm, caring attitude and a love of learning. She changes the lives of others, every single day."
Mrs. Gill is always willing to go the extra mile to help wherever she is needed. She bestows creative talents, and she beautifies her school with her Midas touch and the goodness of her heart. She is extremely effective in her job and is always positive, no matter what challenges she faces. Mrs. Gill has excellent classroom management and the ability to motivate her students to learn and help them achieve self-worth. She sets high, realistic expectations and consistently encourages students to try more challenging tasks. She believes effective teaching not only involves being passionate about what you teach, but conveying that passion to the students in such a way that they will understand it and be able to apply it in some way in their lives.
Mrs. Gill believes that every successful teacher must have humor. She has such a good sense of humor! She believes laughter goes a long way in showing students that their teacher is just a person. Mrs. Gill believes humor within the classroom can ease any frustration a teacher and or student may be experiencing at that moment.
Mrs. Gill believes and recognizes individuality in all her students, because every student has a life, a story, a thought, and feelings they bring with them to the classroom. What you see with Mrs. Gill is what you get. The children, parents, and teachers all love her outstanding, energetic, colorful, lively self.

I believe that if you look up Jana Gill’s name in the dictionary, you would see, “the epitome of love”. She’s all heart and cares deeply for her students each year, as well as her team members, colleagues, staff, parents, and her community. She goes above and beyond wherever she is needed at school. Each year, Jana purchases and delivers gifts to the children at the Saint Mary’s Children’s hospital alongside her family, her kindergarten class, and parents in the community. She continues to fill the lives of the children not only with the gifts, but with joy, love, happiness, and the sweet spirit of the holidays. Jana adds her midas touch to our school by using her creative gifts to beautify our school campus. Jana is a born life Changer, and that is why I nominated this radiantly beautiful soul inside and outside. A one-of-a-kind! Many blessings to Jana in all her endeavors.Love her!
I agree and support every comment that has been left on this page. Jana has made me a better teacher. She has helped me to realize what's important to focus on and reflect and appreciate my strengths. She leads selflessly and thoughtfully. When I was the team leader for 2 years, we just met and she supported me with all of my new ideas and changes. It was so helpful to have a fresh outlook on ideas and know that even though we just met, she had my back. Jana and I have become very good friends, not just colleagues. We tend to think alike and she helps me to enhance my creative abilities even more.
Most of all, she is just always here for me. She helps me eat lunch every day - that is so important to my health as I didn't do that for about 10 years. But she makes sure we sit, relax and take time to re-energize and eat. That is a gift that is priceless as I have become a healthier and happier educator! Furthermore, we can find humor in anything together, and that is so needed after a full day. Laughter is indeed, the best medicine; and I hope Jana will be the recipient of this award so that we can sit, eat, laugh and enjoy all her accomplishments that have led her to this unique nomination.
Mrs. Gill is truly the ideal of what you wish a Kindergarten teacher would be. The first day of school, Lucas enthusiastically shouted that he had "the best day ever!" And he hasn't stopped saying how great you are every single day of this school year. That is what a teacher should be and every child should be so lucky to have you! It is clear that you were born to be a teacher. Your enthusiasm, creativity, support and love for these kids is so evident in everything that you do and accomplish with them. And it's not just about the reading, the writing, the math, etc. It is all the little extras that you put into their learning, your attitude, your support, your encouragement and recognition of what is so special about kids at this young age. Thank you so much for being you! We are so blessed to have you as our K teacher this year!
Jana was hired for her first teaching job out of college at U. B. Kinsey School of the Arts in West Palm Beach. I have never been more impressed with a first year teacher in my life. We formed a magical team that first year together and continues for all our years together. It was amazing to see a brand new teacher with so much talent and an eagerness to do whatever she needed to do to reach each child. Those years some of the best in my teaching career.
Jana will always be an inspiration to her students and all the teachers lucky enough to work with her. Her creativity, dedication and pure love of teaching makes her so deserving of this honor. Jana is an exceptional person in every way.

Since I can’t find the link to comment on, I will just have to brag about you here. You my friend and former colleague are a Master Teacher. You touch lives everyday as you love, nurture, teach and grow with the 20+ lucky kids in your classroom. As a person I’ve watched you overcome and conquer challenging Life situations. You changed a difficult challenge and turned it into a lesson we all learned from.
You model love, kindness, patience, creativity and professionalism every single day. You teach your children to share their gifts and talents with others in the community. To my wife, you are one amazing incredible woman and educator. You are a very special teacher that not only loves the children but shows the love to them. In any profession any can be their title but it’s how you go about it and how you change and make a difference in others lives and believe me children and parents recognize it and applaud you for all you do. Because of her my daughter had the best experience in kindergarten at SPES. She encouraged my girl to read well above her level and made all classes super fun!

We couldn't have dreamed of a better teacher for our son's Kindergarten year. Not only was Mrs. Gill an incredible educator, but she truly made our family feel like part of her own. Our son Sam began first grade last year nervous and finished confident and happy. This is down to the individual attention, compassion and creativity you bring to the classroom. We will always be grateful for the foundation you laid with talent and with love.

Where do I even begin. I had the the pleasure of being a parent in Mrs.Gills kindergarten classroom even before she was even Mrs. Gill. My two daughters elementary school beginning at UBK elementary was extremely enhanced being in her class. She taught to their entire well-being...educationally, socially and personally. As a parent, she blessed me with opportunity to volunteer in her classroom during, between and even after my girls were in her class. It was such a joy. Although, when she left UBK we were sad, we knew it was time for her to take her talents to a new and fresh place that would value her and what she could do. Just recently, in true Jana Gill form, she attended the high school graduation party of my first daughter with her handsome sons. She is deserving of everything today, tomorrow and always! I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Gill for 4 years at UBK. This was my first teaching experience and she had it all together. She had great classroom management, was kind, passionate about teaching, and super creative. I learned so much from her and value her as a teacher and friend.

She leads our kindergarten team in a very special way! Jana is very helpful to all the teachers on the team. She opens her heart and helps all of us.
Every Tuesday we meet and share our ideas and plans. I love our “Special K Team” and the wonderful ideas we develop together. Recently, Jana has funded a wonderful project just this week to get beautiful free planners for teachers at our school.
Jana has also led books clubs and other projects in our school that have made a positive influence on our children.
Jana is an excellent team leader for our “Special K Team” and we all appreciate her hard work to make our school the best school it can be!

Mrs. Gill is simply the best. She treats every child like her own and makes every parent feel like their child is her favorite. Our family was incredibly to have Mrs. Gill two years in a row, as both my daughters got her for Kindergarten. Mrs. Gill is everything you think of and more when you think about the ideal K teacher. She is warm, kind, CREATIVE, and makes learning so much fun. When you are in Mrs. Gill’s class, you are part of a community, a family. My girls are in 2nd and 1st grades now, and they both seek out Mrs. Gill on a daily basis to say hello and give her a hug. Jana Gill It's hard to put into words the time spent together at FSES. We all supported each other through every emotion known and through many situations from great to not so great. You preserved and came through with an understanding of a true educator. A diamond comes to mind-it was under pressure from the earth and a beautiful end for all to enjoy!

Mrs. Gill is an amazing kindergarten teacher and I couldn’t imagine what kindergarten would’ve been like without her.
My daughter was so excited to go to kindergarten every day and is still so excited to see her even though she’s in first grade now. She is not only an amazing teacher but very caring and very gifted and what she does. I couldn’t imagine a more deserving teacher than Mrs. Gill.
I was truly blessed to be paired with Jana for my 90 hour practicum class. With Jana’s mentorship, I learned so much on how to be an effective yet caring educator. So many skills that I currently possess would be nonexistent without the guidance, advice, and mentorship of Jana. Jana, your story is one that is beautiful and your story has impacted my story as well as the stories many who are fortunate enough to be taught by you and work beside you!

You took my apprehensive, attached, hysterical little boy and turned him into a kid that couldn’t wait to get into your classroom, each and every day! I can’t imagine what the 1st year of kindergarten would have been like without Mrs. Gill. She’s not only an amazing teacher but an amazing person as well.
