Sharon Martin was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

This is Officer Martin's second year as the school resource officer at Center Elementary School. She has had a profound impact on students starting from the first few weeks she was assigned to Center. Every morning, she greets students with smiles and hugs as they enter the school. She has been a solid figure for many students who need a shoulder to lean on and someone to talk to. Officer Martin has also begun a Junior Officer program for students who have reached their Accelerated Reader goal. Additionally, she rewards students who are outstanding in a chosen subject area. She has been known to bring treats for students and present them with coloring items during extended breaks and weekends.

During situations that include elevated tempers and upset individuals, Officer Martin always ensures the safety of both students and staff. She has outstanding communication skills and is able to bring solutions to rising problems. Many times, Officer Martin has shown that she will go to endless lengths to put her students and co-workers before herself.

"At the end of the day, it is so refreshing to see students searching for her as they leave school to receive their cherished hugs and smiles as she helps send students home," said her nominator. "She has been, and continues to be, a cherished staple to Center Elementary. Our students, staff, and community are so blessed to have a hero with such dedication."
