Music that Describes Angie

Angie McCluskey was nominated by her principal, Andrew Drumm.

Mrs. McCluskey, also known as "Coach Mac," is not only an incredible teacher, but an even better person.  She wants every student to succeed, whether they're her student or not.  She builds lasting relationships where students open up to her, and she gives them the strength to face their issues or tell a trusted adult who needs to know what's wrong.  If a student is in the wrong, she teaches them to take responsibility for their actions. She explains the necessity of doing this and why its so important.  She will go to school on a Saturday to conduct a parent conference if it's the parent's only free day. Countless parents love Coach Mac and trust her with their children. Coach Mac was last year's Educator of the Year for Connally Middle School, and she has continued doing great work for kids.

Coach Mac has been a incredible role model for my daughter. Early in Jorja’s education at Connally MS Coach Mac shared her experience as a college student athlete at Tarleton State University. Jorja has big dreams of being a student athlete at Tarleton some day and is constantly encouraged and challenged by Coach Mac to persevere, work hard and not loose sight of those dreams. When educators take the time to make these personal connections with students it creates a lifelong positive impact. We are so thankful for all that Coach Mac does, she does it all for her students and our community is better because of her.

Coach Mac is a fantastic role model, teacher, and coach. She has such a big heart for not only her students, but all the students here at Connally. I have overheard her leading the athletics class many times and she strikes the perfect balance between being motivational and caring and holding her athletes accountable and setting high expectations. I've often thought about how I wish I would have had a coach like her when I was in school. She deserves every accolade available!
