LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Dr. Steevon Hunter was nominated by his colleague of ten years, Kimberly Hopkins.

"There are so many reasons why Steevon is a LifeChanger," said Hopkins. "We have worked across the aisles as they relate to both district and charter-led schools.  He has shown an unwavering ability to support and lead students, staff, and community members in a student-centered atmosphere.  He has supported students by enhancing the staff's ability and skill set through high level professional development. Ultimately, this positively impacted the academic success of students within the classroom, as well as on local, state, and national assessments.  As a result, his students have earned over $20 million dollars in academic scholarships."

In addition, Dr. Hunter has created an environment where teachers have shared opportunities to further their degrees, become teacher leaders, and become building-level leaders. Dr. Hunter has a big heart and always focuses on what's best for students.  Students and staff alike have felt comfortable seeking his support with the faith that he will always find a way to support them.  Ultimately, his work has benefited so many students, both academically and socially. His former students have reached back to offer support to his current students.  This is a true testament of what Dr. Hunter has worked to instill in so many students. In short, to know him is to love him.
