Music that Describes Jordan

Jordan Hernández was nominated by Darlene Cecere, the parent of a student.

Mr. Hernández is a renowned AICE English teacher. As soon as he starts his day, he spends every moment making a beneficial impact on his students and community.  His positive contributions are internationally known

To start, Mr. Hernández is involved in a multitude of clubs, and each one is just as significant as the next.  To name a few:

  • SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco): He brings awareness of the importance of good health and staying away from negative influences.
  • Comedy Club: His personal quote is, "Make them laugh, and while their mouths are open, feed them the truth.” Mr. Hernández adheres to the highest of morals and ethics.  He loves to incorporate fun & laughs in a righteous manner to convey important lessons.
  • We Dine Together (WDT): Mr. Hernández founded WDT several years ago, and it has been given worldwide recognition. He is very passionate about making sure no student ever feels lonesome or eat lunch alone.  This club is hosted in his classroom once a week, and it’s an opportunity for those who are looking to make a friend and socialize to have a safe haven where all are welcomed.
  • The International Cultural Understanding (ICU) Club: This is a brand new concept Mr. Hernández has been working on since last spring. When a new student arrives from another town, school, or country, he personally meets with them and pairs them with another student, with the goal of making sure they jive comfortably and streamlining their transition. He hosts a lunch for club members once a month in his room and keeps the content interesting, with conversations on international cultures so all students can contribute.

Now, let’s venture to the community, Mr. Hernández spends a great amount of his time outside of school to advocate for Mental Health Awareness in the community. He is involved in many seminars and activities, which help him spread critical information and break the barriers of discomfort around mental health. He has a giant heart and gives it fully to everyone.

"My son, who is a junior with ASD, was taken under Mr. Hernández’s wing when he was a freshman," said Cecere. "Danny, my son, faced many challenges. Mr. H. as Danny refers to him, was a Godsend. Mr.  Hernández has always been there to support my son, give him guidance, and teach him to always keep his chin up and keep his faith through any obstacle. My son has never had Mr.  Hernández as a teacher.  This goes to show that  Mr. Hernández is a rock to all the students who need uplifting encouragement, no matter what grade they're in or what classes they take."

Mr. Hernández is recognized throughout the school by his peers with the greatest accolades.  He is admired for his excellence in his administrative and academic skills.  He nurture his students with wisdom, grace and dignity, which sets them up to succeed beyond high school. The number of students' lives Mr. Hernández has touched and changed is immeasurable.

"Mr Hernández is one of the most selfless people I’ve ever met," said Cecere. "His love and joy is helping the greater good, and the students and people who get to know him and share in all he contributes are all the better for it!"

He sounds like an amazing teacher and an amazing person. He has been an inspiration to my son for his caring in and out of school.
