Corey Hansen was nominated by an anonymous colleague and parent of one of her students.
Ms. Hansen makes a difference countless students' lives, including the son of the nominator. She has started her third year of teaching at El Tejon and is a team leader for teachers in grades 6-8. She gives her all every day, developing phenomenal lessons, coordinating CELDT, leading the English Department, planning events and activities, and knowing each individual student, their academic level as well as their social needs. She knows everything about each student, and uses this knowledge to engage them in her classroom
Additionally, Ms. Hansen leads an effective CELDT program which has helped several students score well and has reached many more.

Mrs. Hansen is the definition of a Life Changer. Although I was only in her class in fourth and fifth grades, she has continued to educated, care for, and invest in me and my future. I came to the United States in the fourth grade. I spoke no English, knew no one, and felt scared and alone. Mrs. Hansen taught me to speak, read, and write in English. She helped me build confidence. She taught me that anything is possible. She spent hours with me each day for the next 8 years making sure my homework was complete and accurate. She welcomed me, and others like me, to her class after school, without pay, to make sure we had the help we needed. It was help our parents could not provide. When I was a junior in High School Mrs. Hansen made sure I applied to college. She helped me and 32 others apply for the Dream Act. It is because of her that I am a successful college student. She loves her students, and she sees in us something we did not know existed. She sees our potential and shows us how to reach it. I am forever grateful.

Mrs. Hansen is a life changer because she teaches from her heart, she worries about the kids that are left behind, she works extra hours always without expecting any compensation but the satisfaction to give it all, even if she's going through health issues she put the kids first. The kids really love to be in her class, she doesn't have favorites, they love her and respect her. On top of that she's smart, she's bilingual, (English and Spanish). I'll finish with 2 comments from my daughters that have/had her as teacher: "mom, Mrs Hansen is the smartest person that I ever met", "mom, Mrs. Hansen makes me feel so special". Mrs. Hansen is avery special person and we love her very much.??
One hopes they'll get a teacher for their child that chooses to understand what the individual child needs in order to grow and I was able to have that and more for my son when Corey Hansen was his teacher. She consistently exceeded all my expectations. She did so much more without ever being asked. I'm always worried I'm asking too much from a teacher, but she raised the bar. Thank you Ms. Hansen for being so creative, generous, understanding and flexible. The school is blessed to have you.

Mrs. Hansen truly deserves to be on this list. Being a former student of hers she made me feel like I was able to acomplish anything I set my mind to. Even when I was struggling in english she went out of her way to make sure I was able to understand it. Not only is she a great teacher she is an amazing person in general. She made learning in her class extremely memorable, she always went above and beyond for us and most importantly she was there when I needed her. She is someone I will always remember and for that I thank her so much
Mrs. Hansen is a wonderful person. She taught me so much in the 2 years that I had her, and I can't thank her enough. Not only did she teach me how to become a better writer, she helped me with any problem I had, whether it was personal or school related.
