Music that Describes Gabriela
Gabriela Tuck was nominated by her supervisor, Brandon Unsinger.
Ofc. Tuck has been assigned to Longwood Elementary as the School Resource Officer for over two years. During this time, she has made a huge impact on the students and staff with her outgoing personality and caring disposition.
Ofc. Tuck starts her day by greeting each student with a smile and uplifting remarks. Then, she secures the school and conducts safety checks throughout the property. Throughout the day, Ofc. Tuck completes reports, meets with school staff, and keeps the school safe until dismissal.
These are assigned duties that are completed by Ofc. Tuck every day she shows up to work. She's a LifeChanger because of her personal investment in each student’s success and safety. Ofc. Tuck volunteers personal time in order to participate in events and make them more enjoyable for the children involved.
She also helps children who are having behavior or social issues, personally investing time when others wouldn’t. Several children have a hard time adjusting to the social aspects of school, and they occasionally isolate themselves by sitting in hallways before class. Ofc. Tuck personally walks children to class almost every day to help alleviate any issue they may be going through.
Ofc. Tuck also spearheaded the comfort canine program for the Longwood Police Department, allowing her to take a rescued therapy dog to the school grounds with her. The dog, Dory, assists Ofc. Tuck by helping her break down the emotional walls that are built up by students from time to time.
Ofc. Tuck is even a member of her school's PTA, even though she doesn’t have children who attend Longwood Elementary.
Ofc. Tuck is accessible, caring, and fully invested in Longwood Elementary. She maintains professionalism while providing security and support to the students and staff.
