Mrs. Davis' main goals are to help her students grow. She uses classroom observations and data to determine each of her students' strengths and weaknesses. She uses this information to devise a plan to differentiate instruction for all students.  When you walk into her room during centers, students are working on what they need.  Mrs. Davis builds a positive relationship with every student in the class by having nonacademic conversations with them.  She meets with students to set goals. Mrs. Davis celebrates when students meet goals. When you walk into her classroom, students are happy and excited to be in her class.

Mrs. Davis not only wants her first graders to grow, but the entire school to grow, as well. She helped tutor 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students after school.  One summer, she taught a group of 3rd graders to prepare them for the Reading Gate test so they could be promoted to 4th grade.

Her effective instructional strategies are recognized throughout the district.  She achieved the A+ Reading teacher designation.  New teachers visit her class to see her effective instructional strategies and positive classroom culture.  Mrs. Davis has also led professional development for teachers in the district to share instructional strategies.

Mrs. Davis worked with a business to have classroom supplies donated to her school.  The company brought markers, colored pencils, pencils, notebook paper, and other supplies for the students.  She worked with a community organization to have nonperishable food delivered for the Backpack Buddies program.  She even finds time to decorate a tree downtown with student artwork during Christmas.  Mrs. Davis also attends the district Faculty Advisory meetings to share the great things happening at GES.

"Mrs. Davis' passion and dedication to our students is life-changing," said her nominator.
