Paul Weiker was nominated by his principal, Craig Zablo.

Mr. Weiker, also known by students and staff as "Mr. Paul," is the School Guardian.  In this role, he is the first line of defense against potential threats.

"I was concerned about the type of person we would get in this role," said Zablo. "I shouldn't have worried, though, because Mr. Paul is effective, dedicated and personable.  Our students, their families, our faculty and staff all love Mr. Paul, and he quickly became a valued team member."

Mr. Paul has a deep understanding of his job requirements that is second to none. As a former police officer, he knows what to do and why it must be done.  Mr. Paul is also sensitive to the fact that Chisholm is an elementary school, and that he is dealing with children. From day one, he has provided input on ways to make the campus more secure while never losing sight of the fact that it's a school and not a prison.

Mr. Paul is a self-starter who requires very little supervision. His decisions are always high quality and in the best interest of students. Mr. Paul is a team player who actively assists others. He can be found walking a student to the restroom, answering a teacher's call for assistance, tying a student's shoes, assisting a parent with directions, or doing whatever needs to be done. Much of what Mr. Paul does is behind the scenes because he doesn’t seek credit for his assistance. He truly wants the team to shine.

Mr. Paul accepts responsibility without hesitation. Because of his proven record of good decisions, Mr. Paul responds to and resolves many issues that would require a guidance counselor or administrator. Having him as a resource is almost like having another administrator on staff.

"We are lucky to have Mr. Paul Weiker as our Guardian," said Zablo.

Paul is an amazing asset to Chisholm Elementary. He is always willing to assist and is proactive in his approach to student safety and security. He is an outstanding communicator and shares concerns and success's with stakeholders daily. He works hard to build meaningful relationships with students. In fact, it’s not uncommon to hear his name being chanted on the recess field as he interacts with students. Paul is a wonderful addition to our Wildcat family and makes a difference in the lives of students and teachers daily. .

Mr. Paul takes his job of keeping our school and students safe very seriously. He is always making rounds being sure everything is secure. While doing this Mr. Paul has built relationships with many students. I remember last year, a particular student needed motivation to work hard in class. Mr. Paul offered a great deal. He would race the student if they performed their very best. What a goal to work toward. The student worked hard and scored well on FSA. Although his own learning and good work should have been reward enough, he really preferred the prize of running a race against Mr. Paul!

Mr. Paul is a wonderful addition to our Chisholm Elementary School family. In this day and age security on campus is a major concern and with Mr. Paul here we never have to worry - he has the student and staff safety as his number 1 priority. He is pleasant, kind and genuinely likes to be around all the kids. This shows when walking through the school the kids are always high fiving and saying hello to Mr. Paul. We have the best guardian in the district for sure. Thanks Mr. Paul.

There are so many things we could all say about Mr. Paul. He goes above and beyond for our students, teachers, Admin and staff. He genuinely loves what he does and takes pride in our school and our school community. He is always working to protect our students and staff. He has intercepted many things that could've been a danger to us and were not because of his"withedness".
