Bailee Jones was nominated by her colleague, Raleigh Green.
To say that Mrs. Jones is a leader on her campus would be a gross understatement. Mrs. Jones is an outstanding math teacher to her 6th graders and an amazing coach to her high school cheerleaders. Beyond her commitments in the classroom and with her team, she goes above and beyond by mentoring many new teachers every year. Her mentorship goes beyond new teachers; many of the veteran staff turn to her for guidance and assistance on a wide range of topics. She even goes out of her way to help with setting up her colleagues' classrooms every school year! Mrs. Jones is also currently in the county leadership program, which is designed to identify, train and prepare future leaders in her school district. For these reasons and so many more, Mrs. Jones is a true LifeChanger.
Every August, hundreds of nervous 11 and 12 year olds begin the scary time of life known as middle school. This transition is made a little easier by the warmth and generosity of Mrs. Jones. Her caring personality shines through in everything she does, and the students quickly name her as one of their favorite teachers as a result. She sees her job as more than just teaching students math, and students often come to her with to discuss personal problems or seek advice. She is viewed by students as a trusted confidant, and someone who genuinely cares about their feelings and lives. Her track record as an excellent teacher is shown in her consistently outstanding evaluation scores, but her ability to connect with her students on a human level is what truly makes her such an invaluable member of the Fernandina Beach Middle School staff.
In addition to her role as a teacher, Mrs. Jones serves as the Head Cheerleading Coach at Fernandina Beach High School. Mrs. Jones has been able to help many members of her team continue their education by helping them secure college cheer scholarships. Her steadfast leadership serves as a beacon of excellence to all the cheerleaders she coaches. She not only coaches high school cheerleaders, but youth cheer squads, as well! She even fits announcing football games into her hectic schedule! Her unwavering commitment to her students and athletes is what makes her a leader, not only on campus, but in the Fernandina Beach community.
Students aren't the only nervous ones when August rolls around every year. New staff members arrive on campus eager to make a positive impression, not only on students, but on the veteran teachers. Enter Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones goes out of her way to make all new staff members feel at home through various acts of kindness and assistance. It doesn't take long for these new staff members to assimilate into the Fernandina Beach family thanks to all the advice and help they receive from Mrs. Jones. This mentorship doesn't end after the students arrive, as Mrs. Jones meets regularly with many new teachers to ensure everything is going smoothly and to assist with lesson planning and student concerns.
Veteran teachers flock to Mrs. Jones, as well, whether they have questions about BrainPop, concerns on how to properly do a center rotation, or need general advice on how to better connect with students. She is, by far, the go to person on staff! She will even decorate classrooms other than her own to help her colleagues make them more inviting for students! Her ability to juggle being an amazing teacher to her students, coach to her cheer team and incredible mentor and friend to all members of the Fernandina Beach staff make her a true standout in the community.
Outside of being a star on campus, Mrs. Jones is also a leader in the Nassau County School District as a whole. Mrs. Jones has been chosen to run various professional development workshops, and was chosen by her district's leadership as a future leader of Nassau County. This selection shows how important and respected Mrs. Jones is, not only to her colleagues at school, but to district administrators, as well. To be selected as a future leader is a high honor, and one that is taken very seriously by the district. Mrs. Jones surpassed all requirements and criteria with flying colors. As a result of being chosen for this program, Mrs. Jones is being groomed and prepared to be a director in the county office. This means that in addition to her role as teacher and coach, Mrs. Jones is also a student learning from the current administration on all the requirements that these positions of leadership entail. Rather than run from this challenge, Mrs. Jones welcomes it with open arms, and is eager to learn how to make her school a better place for her students and fellow teachers.

You make middle school less stressful for students with your caring smile and patience. I appreciate as a parent how you to relate well with the students but also keep them academically accountable. My son had Mrs. Jones as his math teacher in his first year of middle school. The transition to middle school can be overwhelming with students changing classes and managing the responsibilities, studies, and homework of multiple classes. Mrs. Jones understood the new dynamics 6th graders were facing, and made the transition smooth by being lenient with students in the first weeks of school while nurturing their confidence as they navigate through middle school. She also had a rare gift of teaching children to love math! My son, who is now in high school, enjoyed Mrs. Jones' class and still comments that she was one of his favorite teachers.
Even though I don´t have her as a teacher, the times that I have interacted with her were great. She is very kind, encouraging, and will do anything to push you.
Mrs. Jones has made a huge impact on my youngest daughter’s life. From coaching her cheer team to teaching her in math class, Bailee Jones has inspired, encouraged, and made it all fun. My youngest daughter can struggle in school and not only did Mrs. Jones help her learn the necessary skills but she helped my daughter believe in herself. That is a life changer.
Bailee is an educator that covers so many areas that are needed both within and outside of a classroom. She demands excellence and will guide you along the way. I've seen her console students and deliver the tough love needed to empower students for the future. I'm fortunate to have her as a colleague.

Bailee Jones, teacher, coach, role model, outstanding co-worker, and just an overall amazing asset to our community; having worked with Bailee at the Fernandina Beach Middle School, where I served as the school's resource officer, I can honestly say she is an inspiration to all who cross paths with her. Working as a policeman for over 28yrs, my view of the world and the people within it can often be perceived as cynical. Becoming a school resource officer late in my career, working around and with "teachers" completely transformed the way I view the world. Teachers are some of the most loving, caring individuals there are; the best humanity has to offer. Bailee Jones is one of those teachers. One of those teachers who inspired me to transform my view of the world, but more importantly how I view children. Her radiant smile, welcoming personality, jubilant attitude is infectious to all those around her. I couldn't think of a more fitting person / teacher to be nominated as the Lifechanger of the Year. I can't think of a better nominee.She has followed in the footsteps of her mother who is a legend in our community when it comes to teaching , community volunteering and leadership. This wonderful woman helped me and my family, serving as a shining light for us during a dark and scary time. Mrs. Jones taught my son in 6th grade and he loved having her as a teacher. Three years later and he still talks about her.
My daughter has also been blessed to be positively impacted by “Coach Jones”. She, along with her mother run a non-profit cheer gym in our area. My daughter is in her 5th season at the gym. Coach Jones spends countless hours volunteering her time to train young athletes and instill in them life changing skills. (On and off the mat) Mrs. “Coach” Jones is very deserving of this award.

Mrs. Jones is simply amazing! She wears many hats, one being the head of a local youth cheer competition team! The girls love ‘Mrs. Bailee’! She is such a great role model to them! My daughter often says, ‘I want to be a Georgia Bulldog cheerleader just like coach Bailee!’
Mrs. Jones was my son’s AVID teacher in 6th grade and was such a welcoming presence. She teaches kids where they are and elevates them to new levels. She has a kind, caring spirit and is an excellent educator. Our community is lucky to have her!

Mrs. Jones taught my daughter 6th grade math last year. She is a phenomenal teacher that goes beyond the math book and classroom to develop meaningful relationships with students. My daughter loves going to her class because she made math easy to understand and the hard transition to middle school so much easier. As a fellow educator it is refreshing to know that young influential educators see the importance of building relationships with students, so that, simple concepts like trust, kindness, and self-worth permeate learning and the classroom environment. Two of my own children have had Bailee as their math teacher in middle school.
They both had positive experiences in her classroom which helped prepare them for high school math.
One thing I love to see is her dedication to her cheerleaders. She puts in so much of her time and energy with these students.

I've known Bailee as a teenager, and as the person she has become. Bailee has always been helpful, friendly, and engaging. If you haven't met her yet, you will be astounded at the great leadership skills she has acquired at such a young age. To me, one of the best parts of her leadership ability is that she never puts down anyone, nor tries to make them feel inferior, and has an uplifting spirit. Bailee is most definitely a Life Changer!
In a time where finding a role model is difficult, Bailee Jones is a "champion" for the young people that she works with. Baillee is a highly motivated and enthusiastic mentor to youth and colleagues alike. Her high-energy leadership is infectious and her work ethic is off the charts. Coach Jones was very understanding and supportive of me when I became very ill and was in hospital-homebound my senior year. She checked in on me and included me in the team even when I couldn’t cheer anymore. It really meant a lot to me!

Coach jones is of course one of a kind! She has been my coach for the past 4 years along with my teacher for 2 years before that and I don’t think I could ask for a better experience. She is my cheer coach and it’s safe to say my love for that sport would not be there if it wasn’t for her, she’s helped me succeed new skills I never thought I’d have and she has ultimately given me something to look forward to everyday.
