Julie Dobrinska was nominated by a colleague, Colleen Berkhahn.
Ms. Dobrinska has a mission to make every child feel welcomed as they strive to reach their full potential. She keeps a classroom that is a place where all middle school students can go when they need extra help with their work. It is a place where students can destress and connect with an adult in the building. She balances personal accountability with a nurturing environment and is always looking for ways to reach her students. She is a check in/check out person for kids who need some extra support, and she is also part of the PBIS team within the building.
Ms. Dobrinska continuously pursues professional development opportunities in a diligent effort to learn how to reach every child. Her impact now extends outside the classroom.
She is an integral part of the afterschool program at the middle school, where students can get a snack and work in a supportive environment. Additionally, she actively supports the local Boys and Girls Club and is in charge of the "Fill a Backpack" effort in her school district. She started as a volunteer and feels strongly about helping families who need it.
Ms. Dobrinska takes charge of any situation and steps up when nobody else is willing to do so. She brings a positive, can-do attitude with her wherever she goes, and her optimism is truly contagious.
"She is deserving of this award because she gets no accolades, nor does she seek them out," her nominator said. "I didn't even know she was the drive behind many of her efforts. She is an example of what's good for kids and school."
I have the pleasure of working with Julie, her perseverance is amazing. Great energy, infectious smile.
I started subbing several years ago before I was hired by the district. One of the first times subbing was in the large group study hall. If not for the support, guidance and encouragement from Julie, I am not sure if I would have returned. Thanks Julie
This mother and her family- how missed they are in the Pulaski Community School dustrict! Julie was an active volunteer at Sunnyside School where I teach and had Megan, her daughter, in my 3rd grade class. She was always there when the school needed anything! Not only did she make children feel special, but teachers too! She invited me over for lunch one summer day- what parents do that any more?! So beyond deserving of this award!
Julie is a warm and caring person. She has made a tremendous difference to many lives. Her compassion is overflowing. Julie makes sure no student is ever left behind, whether it is in the community or in her classroom. She is an asset to Antigo.
Julie is an amazing person. She was my neighbor when she lived in Georgia. If anyone deserves this award it is her. She always goes above and beyond her expectations.

Where do we begin with the things Julie has done for others. I met her several years ago as her pastor in Angelica. Julie was always helping others and doing little things to make people feel better about themselves. I remember one time with the ladies group in Angelica, Julie took our names and made a list of all the good qualities of that person. It was special and meaningful and uplifting. I remember also a young man who had trouble reading and Julie was concerned for him and wanted to help him. Julie is always looking out for someone else. She has compassion, care and LOVE in her spirit. Everyone she meets feels that love in her smile and generosity for others. She is one special lady and one of a kind!
Julie has such an upbeat, kind and approachable personality. She makes YOU want to "do" better, "be" better for our community and kids, she is contagious :-) Congratulations, Julie on being nominated! How exciting! On behalf of our community: thank you for all the extra time and effort you put into every project and idea you have created and helped with to benefit the kids and families of Langlade County!
Julie is amazing. She was my son' s teacher for a while offering him unconditional support & incentives to help him get homework done. She recently wrote a grant to get bicycle peddles under desks in her classoom to help students frustrated by needing to stay still. Before she assumed her position at the Antigo Middle School & pursued her teaching credentials, Julie transformed the PTO at our elementary school where her children attended with mine. She created family nights where students & their families could come together in the school gym to play games, do activities, and enjoy a meal. In 20 years of having children enrolled at this school, I have never seen such a level of involvement by the families & students after hours. Julie inspired others to step up into participation & organization with hundreds of kids taking away beautiful memories with their families. It really was a special time. She is in tune to those around her always with a smile & a kind word at the ready. She makes you feel better by just quietly supporting & the lives that she touches are very lucky.
This is my daughter! I am and always have been proud of her and her abilities !

I have never met a more influential positive person that belongs working with children. She has this calming and positive affect on them. I first met Julie when she moved to Antigo when our daughters were in Crestwood gradeschool. At the time I was the Girl Scout leader for my daughter's Brownie troop and I was not going be able to do it the following year. Julie came in and not only helped me with meetings but took over and was the leader for many years. I can't think of anyone more deserving for this award.
I have never met Julie personally but have benefited from her generosity for the students that I in my classroom. Julie and I belonged to an online book club and only know each other through cyberspace. Each year Julie would ask how many students I had in class and would send each child a welcoming package of goodies to distribute here in WV. She also has donated books to our school on several occasions. Julie is a giving, caring woman who deserves to be recognized for her good works!
