Mrs. Smith has taught kindergarten at Cherokee Elementary School since 2007. Each year, her class' growth in reading and math far exceeds her goals. She is devoted to making sure her students achieve academic success. She creates a sense of family among her peers and students while maintaining a culture of learning to high expectations.
She is very efficient and paces lessons according to established guidelines. She meets critical deadlines and serves as a leader for school improvement. Mrs. Smith ensures a student-centered environment where active learning is expected. Every day, it is evident that she genuinely cares about her students.
"Mrs. Smith is a team player who other educators view as a leader. She has served as a curriculum writer for our district, mentors new teachers, and serves on numerous committees," her nominator said.
Mrs. Smith leads by example and rarely misses a class. She is an essential, direct factor related to student achievement.
"From a parent's perspective, her classroom would be where I would want my children to be every day!" her nominator said. "I value these qualities in a teacher and am blessed to have Mrs. Smith in our school."
Lisa is a very inspirational and caring teacher. She goes above and beyond in an out of the classroom. She loves and cares for very individual child with an amazing heart! Any parents would be very happy if they had a child her Lisa Smith's class!
Mrs. Smith is organized and has wonderful classroom management. Mrs. Smith has high expectations for her students and works hard everyday for them to all meet their goals. She works well with all her peers and shows leadership in her grade level.

I've known Mrs. Smith since 2007 and even worked as her assistant at one point, and I can say first hand that the love and dedication she has for each and every one of her students is what makes her deserving of this award.
Lisa Smith is certainly a life changer as she works each day to change the futures of the wide range of five year olds she serves so well.
