Shamalon Houston was nominated by the parent of a student, LaToya Harris.
"Where do I start? Ms. Houston was my daughter's 3rd and 4th grade teacher. My daughter is now entering 6th grade, and we still feel the same way about Ms. Houston today as we did when we first met her," said Harris
Ms. Houston is honestly more than a teacher and educator. The love she shows her students is amazing! She’s patient and caring with each of them. Ms. Houston still checks on all of her former students. She’s an all-around wonderful person.
"I’m more than thankful to have had her teach my daughter. She’s truly become like family. More schools need teachers like Ms. Houston in their district," said Harris.

Ms. Houston and I met at our girls basketball team at the YMCA. She took extra with her daughter and mine to work on some basketball skills. I enjoyed exchanging ideas to help my daughter. Can’t wait for basketball this winter.
