Curtis Jenkins was nominated anonymously.
It is sometimes hard to love your job as a bus driver; driving for countless hours through all types of weather with loud children in the back. That is why Curtis Jenkins stands out from all the rest. He is not only a bus driver to the children, but a part of their family.
Instead of treating his bus route like merely a bus route, he creates a little community. He gives all of his students a responsibility and job to do for the short times they are on the bus. He establishes police officers, presidents, administrative assistants, and countless other positions so everyone is included and feels important.
Mr. Jenkins takes the time to get to know each and every one of his students. He remembers what they are passionate about and helps keep them passionate about it. In one instance, he created a t-shirt with a picture of a book one of his students had created on it, hoping that she will look at it and be inspired to write more books. Throughout his years as a bus driver, Mr. Jenkins has given out all sorts of gifts to his students; bikes, backpacks, books, cards, food, anything to see them happy and excited.
Mr. Jenkins' title may only be bus driver, but his job is making his children smile daily, and that is why he is a LifeChanger.

Anything I can do to help Curtis, I’m all for. Met him recently and I’ve never seen a more selfless man. So great to see someone truly dedicated to improving the lives of young people in his community. We need more people like Curtis!

He's always smiling, positive word, jokester and very spiritual person. After he moved from Louisiana of course during that time there were no social media but after years past we found each other and his siblings on Facebook. I learned about Curtis from a local news stations, then found out more through district staff newsletters. My whole family saw the TV coverage and became very impressed. Curtis's story sparked their interest in volunteering at my school in the same district and in helping the local school where we live, which is in another district. Curtis gave from his heart, and so many others are following his path. Curtis Jenkins is definitely a leader in making the world a better place for all of our children.

Curtis is one in a million?
Curtis is definitely a life-changer! I learned about Curtis while attending a national education conference. One of the keynote speakers showed a short clip of his story from CBS News and we were all wowed! I immediately took to social media to find him to see if he would be willing to video chat with the attendees of the conference (about 300). When I messaged Curtis on Facebook, he immediately responded that he would love to speak with us! When we were able to connect, he continued to inspire us with his message of kindness and compassion. He is completely genuine and dedicated to helping raise a generation of kids who care about others and themselves.

Curtis has only received acknowledgement from the latest story on television, but Curtis has been doing things such as this for years. Even without the money to do it (living on a bus driver's salary...how difficult is that???).
