Debora Shannon was nominated by a member of the community, Cesar Mourino.

Mrs. Shannon has been an educator for over 25 years. She obtained her doctorate degree and pushes children in the right direction in order for them to reach their full potential. Students often return to school to see her after they've graduated because of the impact she has made on their future.

Mrs. Shannon has also had a tremendous impact with her own children. Both of her daughters have become educators and are also impacting children's lives.

"Even when she meets young adults, she helps give them direction for higher education. I have also seen her help educators obtain jobs when they could not find one," Mourino said.

She recently obtained her life insurance license in order to help educate families in financial services. She teaches them the importance of life insurance and financial security, and has even worked with Mr. Mourino in educating families on financial literacy in her school and community.

"I truly believe Mrs. Shannon deserves to win this award for her outstanding commitment to education, her students, and the educators that need guidance in educating their own students," Mourino said.
