Music that Describes Stephanie
Stephanie Mogul was nominated by her colleague, Judy Bremner.
"I met Stephanie this past school year. She volunteered to be a safety liaison for her school in order to help implement the Sandy Hook Promise Programs 'Start With Hello' and 'Say Something,'" said Bremner. "These programs are part of the recovery program as a result of a tragic shooting that took place in the Broward School District on February 14, 2018. After what happened, the District needed people to step up and put measures in place so that nothing like this ever happens again in our community. Stephanie definitely stepped up!"
Ms. Mogul was the first to volunteer to be a safety liaison. In this position, she has implemented Start With Hello, which helps students recognize social isolation and teaches them how to bridge the gap and make connections with the isolated student. She has also implemented Say Something, which teaches students how to recognize signs and signals of potential violence, especially within Social Media, and report that information to a trusted adult. Ms. Mogul not only implemented these programs, but she also serves as a sponsor to the SAVE Promise club at her school, which is an effort to sustain these programs in future years. Ms. Mogul and her students have made beautiful bulletin boards, Helping Hands of Peace Banners, and signed pledges for peace.
"She is truly an ambassador in the movement to make our schools safer. In this manner, she is definitely a LifeChanger," said Bremner.
