Mrs. Morris has been teaching students with moderate intellectual disabilities for over 30 years. She is a staunch advocate for her students and provides each child with skills that will enable them to navigate a world that doesn't always understand or consider the needs of citizens with disabilities.

"When I think about a teacher who has a proven ability to make a difference in the lives of students, I think of Sherri Morris," the nominator said.
Mrs. Morris serves as a leader in her school and within the special education team by monitoring the individual education plans for each of her school's special needs students. She has served on numerous district and state level committees tasked with making a positive impact on her school's special needs population. Her record of care, compassion, and exceptional instruction are widely known in her school district, and she is frequently called upon to train new staff and student teachers. She is committed to producing a nurturing atmosphere with high expectations that allows her students to participate in everyday activities alongside their general education peers.
