Tiffany Khamnungthai was nominated by her colleague, Amy Reeves.

Ms. Khamnungthai, also known as "Mrs. K," is an 18+ Transition Teacher at South Grand Prairie High School. She teaches independent living and community skills to adult students who have completed their academics, but are continuing on to complete their IEP. When you walk into her classroom, you never know what to expect. Some days, you might walk into the kitchen to find spaghetti and meatballs all over the floor and see her teaching students the proper way to clean them up. She leads by example, thinks outside the box, has integrity, and does what is right for students all the time. You will often see her planning for students well after the school day has ended. She plans community outings for her students so they can explore the world around them. They have visited the library, grocery store, the YMCA, a pet ranch, etc. Mrs. K's students aren't confined to the four walls that surround them, and because of Mrs. Khamnungthai and her team, the students are not confined to their disability either.

Mrs. K will be the first to stand up and give all of the credit for her success to the team around her. She works hard to make sure that all of the job coaches are included in the planning for students, and that they understand what they need to do to get the students to the next level. Mrs. K is a team player who can always be counted on.

"When I am looking to build on existing programs or develop new ones, I know that she wil communicate the needs of the students and provide ideas on how we can best meet those needs," said Reeves. "She is ready and willing to step in and provide supports to students, teachers, and administrators. Mrs. Khamnungthai is an invaluable member of our team, and we wouldn’t be where we are as a district without her."

Tiffany is a wonderful human being who loves what she does and most of all loves her scholars! Tiffany is passionate, caring, loving, and dedicated to what she does. Congratulations Tiffany on such a well deserved nomination!

It is my honor to be on Ms. K's team. She not only is an advocate for all our scholars; she is an advocate for her colleagues. She empowers her team to be build and foster relationships with the scholars and families they serve. She empowers our scholars to be engaged in their learning through communicating their needs and building their talent. She empowers our parents to be collaborative partners in their scholars' educational process from classroom, to career exploration, to community involvement. Ms. K is ready, willing, and able to create success with her scholars and team, empower them to serve with steadfast dedication, and lead with unwavering resolve to all she serves.

Ms. K is one of those teachers you hope you get to work with! She loves her students and pushes them to keep learning and developing independence. There is a wide range of skills to be taught and needs to be met in Ms. K's class and she meets each student where they are individually. Ms. K is a LIFE CHANGER as a teacher and a colleague.

I worked with Mrs. k Reagan Middle School for 3 years. I was working on the care department and she worked in the daily living skills classroom. On my brakes I would spend time in the Dls classroom. During that time I would see how Mrs. k would go above and beyond to take the best care of her students. One student wouldn’t eat very much. I remember her looking for easy food to make for this child for a while and after many failed attempts she made over night oats and the student enjoyed it so much he would squeal with excitement. All of her students were excited to see her during the school day. Watching her work with her students showed me to have patience and stay determined and you will succeed.

I worked with Mrs. K when she was a teacher's aide and working on her degree. She has the "it" factor. Mrs. K has a love for her students. She sees obstacles as opportunities. She truly loves her kids and has not only hopes and dreams, but plans for them. If a student is struggling she knows they just haven't got it "yet" And I can't wait to see what the power of "yet" has in store for her and her students!
