LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Raul Flores was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

Mr. Flores has been a great influence on many students who lack a male role model at home. These students usually make it a point to say Hi to him, even when they're en route to my class or don't have him until later in the day. They're excited to see him, talk to him, and work with him in their welding shop. He has become a father figure to many of his male students, and he advises them to make good decisions in life and keeps an extra eye on them.

"I have learned of many other students from his previous districts who continue to look for him and thank him for his time," said his nominator. "He has exposed many of these students to field trips and experiences they've never had a chance to see outside of this town. I have also witnessed him spend his time and money to make sure his students' don't have to pay for meals on field trips. Even in class projects, he has paid for students' meals and items and made sure they had an amazing experience. It's very refreshing to see our male teachers become so involved and attached to these students. The students looking forward to him being their teacher for the next few years of their high school careers. He has so many ideas for his FFA chapter, students, and class."
