Zoila Delmonte was nominated by her daughter, Roxanne Moralez.

Many teachers do not get the credit they deserve. They sacrifice their time and hard earned money to make a difference in a child's life. Sometimes, when you are lucky enough, you have one of those teachers who breathes life into their students' education. For Ms. Moralez, that teacher is Mrs. Delmonte

Mrs. Delmonte's day doesn't end when the school bell rings, and her mission doesn't end when her students graduate to the next grade. She has taught many different age groups throughout the years. Sometimes, previous students stop by 20 or more years after they've left her class room to acknowledge the difference she has made in their lives.

"It's amazing, and this happens all the time. She has had repeat families because they request her as a teacher for all of their children. They literally light up when they see her," Moralez said.

Dania Elementary School is a Title I school, and most of the students are on government assistance. Like many teachers, Mrs. Delmonte often buys school supplies and clothing for students in need.

Mrs. Delmonte opened "Dania's Closet," a free store where families in need can shop for clothes and shoes.  She also writes grants so that her school can buy computers and tablets for students who can't afford them.
