Terrie Walls was nominated by a colleague, Erin Walker.

Students at Aberdeen Elementary School are always ecstatic when they receive Mrs. Walls as their third grade teacher. The children know she is an amazing teacher, and are prepared for anything that comes their way.

"Before teaching third grade, Mrs. Walls taught second grade. I will never forget hearing a new second grade student say they were upset because they now had another year to go to get into Mrs. Walls' class!" Walker said.

Mrs. Walls has some of the best ideas when it comes to meeting the needs of her students. She lends a helping hand to teachers throughout the school.  She attends every meeting she is invited to, including PTA and other out of school meetings.

"Just recently, we found out several of our students will be recognized for their achievements. She was so excited about it she could barely contain herself because half of the students were from her class!" Walker said.

When someone walks into Mrs. Walls' classroom, they are immediately welcomed into a safe space that feels like home.   Her classroom is designed for learning, with everything in the perfect place to help students learn.

"Mrs. Walls is my mentor. Not that she has been assigned as such, but she is a teacher I strive to be like," Walker said. "I get advice from her, both personal and educational.  She is not only one of my best friends - she is my LifeChanger."

I have to say that I am more than a little bias when it comes to this lady!! Not only did I have the honor of working with her for 6 years, but also the lifelong honor of calling her my aunt!! She is a phenomenal teacher! She sets the tone of the classroom with high expectations and maintains those expectations from day 1 to day 180! Her instruction is rigorous and standard based, and she shows the kids that learning is fun!! She establishes a trusting and collaborative relationship with parents and students. All-in-all she has made a positive impact on every student that has walked through her door!!

Terri is an outstanding teacher, friend, and coworker! As a coworker she is always eager to help others! Will do anything for us! She keeps us going through her surprises like breakfast for all the teachers, homemade cookies and even homemade candy at times. She has special needs students in her classroom. She rarely ask for help! She believes in every child! She goes above and beyond to keep students out of office and in her class to learn! She teaches with hands on activities- dissecting an owl! The kids love her class! She is one of a kind and outstanding!
