Tela Maupin was nominated by her principal and fellow LifeChanger nominee, Javier Chaparro.
Mrs. Maupin has invested over ten years at Seagoville Middle School and over 17 years in Dallas ISD helping students, teachers, parents and administrators. She has always displayed strong dedication and initiative.

Mrs. Maupin mentors students and provides opportunities for extended learning. Her enthusiasm and dedication inspires a culture of excellence among students and personnel at Seagoville Middle School.
Mr.s Maupin is very spirited and enthusiastic about educating students as well as new teachers. I have always admired her professionalism, dedication, and hard work especially during standardized test periods like STAAR and ACP. She is a true role model for all professionals to emulate.

Mrs. Maupin is an excellent leader in every sense of the word. As a testing coordinator, she was punctual, organized, and extremely efficient. She cares about what she does for the staff at Seagoville Middle School, and most importantly she genuinely cares about our kids.

Mrs. Maupin is the epitome of what it means to be an excellent administrator. She is very supportive of the staff, and knows how to get the best out of the students at Seagoville Middle School. Last year, Mrs. Maupin's Math Department garnered outstanding STAAR scores, which reflected well on the school, and exemplified how well she guides the Math Team. Mrs. Maupin also worked the STEM camp over the summer, which provided excellent, hands-on activities for the students to delve further into Math and Science. Mrs. Maupin is dedicated to the profession, and especially to seeing the students achieve their best. I do not work directly with Ms. Maupin to impact student's learning in the classroom, but my influence is to assure students are healthy where their educational process is not interrupted by illness, disease or other medical issues. Whenever I have reached out to Ms. Maupin with any medical issue pertaining to a student or a population of students she has always been helpful to assist me in resolving the issue.

Mrs. Maupin has an awesome ability to work with students, her sweet tone of voice and calmed mindset allows her to reach deep inside each student and prompts them to feel comfortable. These skills of her deescalate the situations so that she can find the underlying cause of them. She is aware of the big opportunity she has as an educator to positively influence student and she takes advantage of it.
I have known Tela Maupin for 10+ years. The things that consistently stand out about her are her vibrant personality, consistently positive disposition, and a natural ability to make those around her feel comfortable and special.
