Gina Wilkins was nominated by her colleague, Robbie Moore-Roberts.
As a native Houstonian, Mrs. Wilkins is committed to the students, the school, and ultimately, the community. She began her career in Houston Independent School District in 1994. She has worked in the capacity of substitute teacher, teacher, magnet coordinator, and now assistant principal. In 2017, she continued her service as the assistant principal at Woodson PK-8. She played a vital role in decreasing student discipline problems, resetting the school’s culture and climate, increasing student achievement, and bringing the campus out of “Improvement Required” status.
Mrs. Wilkins is dedicated to reaching, teaching, and inspiring all students, parents, and staff at Woodson PK-5. Her passion for education consists of providing an exciting, rigorous, safe learning environment for all students. She continuously builds positive relationships and leads by example.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Gina Wilkins for approximately two years. She’s definitely an “effective leader.” She may not know, but many times I marveled her leadership and admired her strength to ensure the students receive the best. Many of our students are economically disadvantaged, but Mrs. Wilkins treats them as if they are attending the most elite school in Texas.
