Allan Rogelio Sobrevilla was nominated by his colleague, Chona Samson.
Mr. Sobrevilla is the kind of teacher who reminds us why educators have such an extraordinary impact on children's lives. As a fourth-grade teacher at Sandy Miller Elementary in the Clark County School District, Mr. Sobrevilla brings dedication, compassion, patience, and a genuine love for his students into everything he does.
"If I had to describe Allan in three words, they would be dedicated, compassionate, and inspiring. Allan does much more than teach a fourth-grade curriculum. He takes the time to know his students, understand who they are, recognize their individual strengths, and support them when they face challenges. His students can feel that he genuinely cares about them. That love and compassion create a classroom where children feel seen, valued, respected, and encouraged to believe in themselves, said Samson.
One of Mr. Sobrevilla's greatest strengths is his unwavering commitment to his students. He does not give up on a child who is struggling. Instead, he looks for ways to reach them, encourage them, and help them discover that they are capable of more than they may realize. He celebrates their accomplishments, big or small, and reminds them that mistakes and challenges are opportunities to learn and grow. His dedication has not gone unnoticed. He has received multiple nominations recognizing his efforts and the difference he makes. These repeated recognitions reflect something that his students and colleagues experience every day: he consistently goes above and beyond because he truly wants his students to succeed.
He also plays an important role in creating a positive atmosphere at Sandy Miller Elementary. His classroom is more than a place where students complete assignments. It is a place where they can develop confidence, kindness, responsibility, and a love of learning. Mr. Sobrevilla models the behavior he wants to see in his students and helps build a school culture of respect, encouragement, and belonging. As a leader, he leads by example. He demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and a willingness to go the extra mile. He sets a strong example for his students and colleagues by showing that leadership begins with caring about others and doing what is right, even when no one is watching.
What stands out most about Mr. Sobrevilla is that his commitment to teaching comes from the heart. His students are not simply names on a roster or numbers in a classroom. He sees them as individuals with dreams, personalities, challenges, and enormous potential. His genuine love for children shows in his patience, his encouragement, and the effort he makes every day to help them become the best versions of themselves. He also demonstrates high moral and ethical standards. He treats every student with dignity and fairness and understands the responsibility that comes with being an educator. Students can trust him, and families and colleagues can depend on him.
A LifeChanger is someone whose influence extends far beyond classroom lessons. Mr. Sobrevilla is that person. The lessons he teaches his students about perseverance, kindness, confidence, and self-belief will stay with them long after they leave fourth grade.
“Allan Rogelio Sobrevilla deserves to be recognized as a LifeChanger because he does not simply teach children. He invests in them. He gives them his time, his patience, his encouragement, and, most importantly, his genuine care. His dedication makes a difference every day, and the positive impact he has on his students and school community is something that deserves to be celebrated,” said Samson.
