Carolyn Wang was nominated by her colleague, Chona Samson.

"Carolyn is the kind of educator who leaves a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work with her. As a colleague at Sandy Miller Elementary, I have seen firsthand the incredible difference Carolyn has made in our students' lives and in our school's culture. Carolyn is much more than our librarian. She is a mentor, encourager, role model, and champion for our students. She has an amazing ability to make every child feel welcome and valued. Whether she's helping a student find the perfect book, encouraging a child who was struggling, or celebrating a student's excitement about reading, Carolyn consistently makes students feel seen and important," said Samson.

"One of the things I admire most about Carolyn is the genuine joy she brings to her work. Her love of books and learning is contagious. She inspires students to become curious, creative, and confident learners. I have watched students who were initially hesitant about reading become excited to visit the library and discover books they truly enjoyed because Carolyn took the time to understand their interests and encourage them. Carolyn also plays an important role in creating the positive atmosphere at Sandy Miller Elementary. Her library is a place where students felt safe, welcomed, and encouraged to be themselves," said Samson.

Ms. Wang brings creativity, kindness, and enthusiasm to school every day. Her influence extends far beyond the library because she is always willing to support students, teachers, and the community however she can.

"As a colleague, I have also seen Carolyn demonstrate outstanding professionalism and leadership. She leads by example, treating everyone with kindness, patience, respect, and integrity. She holds herself to a high standard and consistently puts students' needs and well-being first. Her dedication is evident in the relationships she builds and in the countless ways she goes above and beyond to make our school a better place," Samson added.

What makes Ms. Wang a true LifeChanger is the lasting impression she leaves on students. She doesn't simply help children choose books. She helps them discover themselves through reading. She encourages them to imagine, explore, question, and believe in what they could accomplish. She creates moments that students will remember long after they leave her library.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside Carolyn. She has inspired not only our students but also her fellow educators. Her compassion, dedication, positivity, and unwavering commitment to children embody everything a LifeChanger should be. Carolyn Wang has made Sandy Miller Elementary a better, kinder, and more inspiring place, and I wholeheartedly believe she deserves to be recognized as a LifeChanger of the Year," Samson concluded.

I have worked alongside Mrs. Wang for 5 years now, and I can whole-heartedly say she is truly amazing in everything that she does! She generously contributes her time anywhere she can and is such a strong participant and supporter of our PTA. The kids absolutely love her birthday tradition of giving every child a special book during their birthday month, and it brings them so much joy! Our parent volunteers love working with her during the book fair because of the welcoming atmosphere and amazing spirit she brings to our school every single day. Everyone in our school community loves Mrs. Wang, and she is so deserving of being named LifeChanger of the Year!

Ms. Wang has been our school librarian since my oldest child first began attending Sandy Miller, and now my son, Javier, is a student there as well. Over the years, I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about Ms. Wang from both of my children, and it warms my heart to see the positive impact she has had on them. My son absolutely loves going to the library. Every week, he comes home with a different book and stories to share about Ms. Wang. Seeing his excitement about choosing books and hearing him talk about his time in the library reminds me how special it is to have someone who makes reading such a joyful experience for children. Ms. Wang is kind, welcoming, and always greets others with a smile. It’s clear that her kindness goes beyond lending books. She helps create a space where children feel welcomed, encouraged, and excited to learn. Knowing that she inspires my children to keep reading, exploring, and discovering new things means more than words can express. Thank you, Ms. Wang, for being so much more than a librarian. Thank you for the kindness you show, the encouragement you give, and the little moments you create that may mean more to a child than you will ever know. For 180 days each school year, you have the opportunity to touch so many young lives, and I hope you know how truly meaningful your work is. Thank you for making the library a place my children love and for being such a wonderful part of their school experience. Sandy Miller is fortunate to have you, and our family is grateful for the difference you make, one child and one book at a time. ❤️
