LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

John Barbo was nominated anonymously.

Mr. Barbo smiles and laughs with his students. They understand that he takes teaching very seriously and that he has expectations regarding their behavior. From day one of the school year, he communicates classroom procedures and expectations very clearly. He reinforces these expectations every day. This takes care of most behavior issues. Just as importantly, however, is that his students know that he genuinely enjoys their company, individuality, and ability to face adversity. From the moment students walk into class, Mr. Barbo smiles, laughs, and makes them feel comfortable and valued. From their end-of-the-year evaluations, they clearly appreciate the laughter and positive energy of his class.
