Sarah Brandenburg was nominated anonymously.
In just her second year at Wallace A. Smith Elementary School, Ms. Brandenburg has truly transformed the library into a place where students want to be. She has a special gift for connecting with students and creating an environment where they feel welcomed, excited, and inspired. Because of her passion and dedication, students have developed a genuine love for going to the library and reading.
Ms. Brandenburg has made an incredible impact through her creativity and initiative. She brought a book vending machine to the school, giving students an exciting and memorable way to get books of their own. She also took on the enormous task of organizing the entire library so that students can easily navigate the shelves, find books that interest them, and discover new stories they might otherwise never have encountered. She has made reading more accessible, engaging, and exciting for everyone.
Ms. Brandenburg understands that a library should be about more than just books. She has created opportunities for students to explore their interests and find a place where they belong. She started both a Podcast Club and a Harry Potter Club, giving students opportunities to be creative, build friendships, develop confidence, and share their passions with others. These programs have helped make the library a true hub of the school community.
What makes Ms. Brandenburg a LifeChanger, however, is that her impact extends far beyond the students she serves. She is an amazing coworker who is always willing to help anyone who needs it. Whether a teacher needs a resource, a colleague needs support, or someone needs an extra set of hands, Ms. Brandenburg is ready to jump in. She consistently goes above and beyond without hesitation, and her kindness, positivity, and willingness to help make the entire school a better place.
Ms. Brandenburg is more than a librarian. She is a mentor, a leader, a supporter, and someone who has made a lasting difference in the lives of students and staff. In only two years, she has changed how students see the library and, more importantly, how they see themselves as readers, learners, and members of the school community.
“Ms. Brandenburg is truly a LifeChanger. Her dedication, creativity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to students make her incredibly deserving of the LifeChanger of the Year award. We are incredibly fortunate to have her at our school,” said the nominator.
