Jennifer Goddard was nominated anonymously.

As a departmentalized fourth-grade teacher, Ms. Goddard and her teaching partner have one goal: create a classroom their students never want to leave. They believe childhood should be filled with creativity, wonder, and meaningful memories, so every lesson becomes an experience instead of just another assignment. Her classroom is like a family. Every child is known, celebrated, and encouraged to take risks because they know they are loved. Students never know what adventure awaits them.

After every test, Ms. Goddard and her students celebrate with a dance party, so assessments become something to look forward to rather than fear. When they finish a class novel, they transform the day into a themed celebration complete with costumes and foods inspired by the story. During their energy unit, students engineer working projects using only recycled materials. Even their display boards are made from cereal boxes and other reused items! She wants students to see that imagination matters more than expensive supplies.

Years later, former students still return to tell her that fourth grade was their favorite year. That's the greatest compliment a teacher could ever receive. She wants every child who walks through her doors to leave believing that learning is exciting, that they are capable of amazing things, and that school is a place where they belong.
