From the first day, Ms. Quimby tells students that she doesn't like them; she loves them. The difference between liking someone and loving someone is, if one just likes you and gets mad at something you do, one can dislike you. If one loves you, it's forever.

When Ms. Quimby corrects a student, it's because she wants them to be a better person. Every day, when students leave the classroom, she says, "Mrs. Quimby loves you! Be kind people!" Her number one rule is "be nice people." Everything is encompassed by that one rule. If students are kind, they make way for others. They are respectful of classmates, teachers, administrators, and support staff. If you are kind, you think of others' needs before your own.
