Dr. Mary Webb was nominated by Ethel M. Taylor Academy's principal, Nathaniel Snow . 

Dr. Webb is innovative, compassionate, and transformational. These three words capture the impact she has on students, staff, and the entire school community. Innovation drives everything she does, as she continually finds creative ways to engage students through hands-on STEM experiences, technology integration, project-based learning, and real-world problem solving. Her compassion is evident in the relationships she builds with every student, especially those who have struggled academically or personally. Most importantly, she is transformational. She helps students see possibilities within themselves that they never believed existed, changing not only how they perform in school but how they view their own futures.

Dr. Webb has changed the trajectory of countless students by creating a classroom where every learner is challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed. She has transformed mathematics from a subject many students fear into one they genuinely enjoy by incorporating robotics, coding, engineering, financial literacy, and literacy strategies into daily instruction. Students who once entered her classroom believing they "weren't math people" leave with confidence, resilience, and the belief that they can solve difficult problems both inside and outside the classroom.

What truly distinguishes Dr. Webb is her belief that learning extends far beyond the classroom. She intentionally builds meaningful partnerships with colleges, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to create authentic learning experiences for our students. Through collaborations with Miami University, Microsoft, and numerous local STEM and community partners, she has connected students with mentors, emerging technologies, hands-on learning opportunities, college experiences, and career exploration that many of them would not otherwise have access to. These partnerships help students see themselves as future engineers, educators, entrepreneurs, programmers, and leaders. Whether securing grants, connecting students with industry professionals, or creating innovative learning experiences through community partnerships, Dr. Webb consistently removes barriers and creates opportunities that inspire students to dream bigger than their circumstances. She understands that when schools and communities work together, students thrive.

One interaction with Dr. Webb continues to stay with Dr. Snow as a school leader. Following the release of Ohio's state assessment results, many conversations naturally centered on proficiency rates and areas for improvement. While those discussions are important, Dr. Webb approached the data differently. She began sharing stories about individual students who had entered her classroom several grade levels behind yet had made tremendous academic growth because someone believed in them and refused to give up on them. She looked at Dr. Snow and said, "Growth is the greatest equalizer. Every student's growth matters. Success isn't measured only by proficiency scores; it's measured by helping students believe they can do something they thought was impossible." That statement has become one of the guiding philosophies Dr. Snow associates with Dr. Webb. She is a tireless advocate for recognizing student growth as a meaningful measure of success. She challenges everyone to celebrate progress alongside achievement and actively engages district and state education leaders in conversations about the importance of recognizing growth as an essential indicator of student success.

Dr. Webb believes that growth tells the story of perseverance, effective teaching, and the potential within every child—especially those who begin far behind their peers. Her advocacy has inspired educators to look beyond a single test score and recognize the extraordinary impact that dedicated teachers have on changing lives every day. Dr. Webb never loses sight of the child behind the data. She understands that true success is measured not only by academic performance but by confidence gained, obstacles overcome, and opportunities created.

Dr. Webb's optimism, unwavering belief in students, and relentless pursuit of excellence inspires everyone around her to become better educators. She has elevated the culture of Ethel M.
