LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Zoë Huxtable was nominated anonymously. 

This is going to be Ms. Huxtable's first year teaching second grade, and she has been doing a lot of planning and preparation so that she can make her classroom a positive and safe environment for the students to grow! Her goal is to have plenty of built in natural privileges throughout the day that the students can earn, such as reading wherever they want in the classroom during silent reading time. This is to help teach the students good internal motivation, rather than relying solely on physical prizes or a prize box. Ms. Huxtable also wants to help them reflect on their positive behavior and "wins" of their day by doing reflection worksheets during dismissal. As a class, the students can work together to win rewards by earning compliments from special teachers outside the classroom. There's a reward jar in Ms. Huxtable's classroom to keep track of the students' goal! This helps students learn positive appropriate behaviors outside the classroom, even without their teacher.
