Amanda McConnell was nominated by her principal, Cristina Smith. 

Ms. McConnell is one of those rare educators whose impact cannot be measured by data alone. While her students consistently achieve some of the highest academic growth and achievement in the district, what truly makes Ms. McConnell a LifeChanger is the lasting difference she makes in the lives of every child who walks through her classroom door. She has an extraordinary gift for helping students see possibilities in themselves before they can see them on their own. She creates a classroom where children feel safe taking risks, believe in their abilities, and discover they are capable of more than they ever imagined.

Ms. McConnell doesn't simply teach standards. She builds confidence, resilience, character, and a genuine love of learning that stays with her students long after they leave fifth grade. Every decision she makes begins with one question: "What's best for kids?" That mindset defines everything she does. She holds students to incredibly high expectations because she believes in them completely, and they rise to meet those expectations knowing she will never stop supporting them.

Her influence reaches far beyond her own classroom. She is the school's Teacher of the Year and a respected teacher leader who strengthens the entire school through collaboration, mentorship, and school improvement efforts. Colleagues seek her guidance because of her wisdom, positivity, and unwavering focus on student success. She has a remarkable ability to make everyone around her better, whether they are students, teachers, or leaders.

Her impact also extends into the school community. She has dedicated countless hours to coaching the Spelling Bee and Math Olympics teams, serving on the School Advisory Council, and co-founding the Ki-Kids Club. Through Ki-Kids, she has inspired dozens of students to become servant leaders who understand the importance of compassion, generosity, and giving back to their community. She isn't just teaching children how to be successful students. She is teaching them how to be exceptional people.
