Rosanna "Rosie" Coomer was nominated by her colleague, Laci Goins.

As an independent living skills instructor for visually impaired students, Ms. Coomer has proven time and time again that she makes a difference in their lives. She helps them learn the skills necessary to become responsible adults who can contribute meaningfully to society. She is a role model and an inspiration. She also has a visual impairment and is a mother of twin girls. She is also an alum of the Oklahoma School for the Blind and a leader of the school's alumni organization. Her life experiences alone provide a perspective that students with visual impairments need in order to see that they are not defined by their disability. To further her impact, she is continuing her education in order to obtain a degree that focuses on students with visual impairments. She is dedicated to her students and expects them to "give it a try before just giving up."

"I am so glad to have Rosie on my team and know that the students at the Oklahoma School for the Blind could not have a better instructor," said Goins.
