Music that Describes Nathaniel
Nathaniel Fancher was nominated by his colleague, Joela Lowe.
"When I think about what it means to be a LifeChanger, I think of small, consistent acts of leadership that quietly transform a school community. That is exactly who my principal is," said Lowe.
Mr. Fancher's impact isn't loud or performative. It's steady, present, and rooted in genuine care for both students and staff. Before becoming a principal, he served as a behavior specialist and in the military. You can see both influences in the way he leads: calm under pressure, deeply protective of his people, and unwavering in his commitment to doing what is right.
He is an advocate for students with special needs in a way that goes far beyond compliance or paperwork. He sees them — truly sees them — and fights for their dignity, their opportunities, and their joy. He makes sure students are fed, even paying for their meals himself when necessary. He finds prom dresses, shoes, clothing, and resources for students who would otherwise go without. He quietly removes barriers, without a spotlight or praise, because he believes every child deserves to feel valued and included.
"As a teacher, I have never felt more supported by a leader. He doesn't lead from afar or from behind a closed office door. You feel his presence in the building — in the hallways, in the cafeteria, in the classrooms, checking in, encouraging, and making sure we have what we need. When a teacher is sick, he personally asks if we're okay and follows up later. When someone is struggling, he notices. When someone succeeds, he celebrates. His leadership is not distant; it is hands-on, human, and deeply relational. There was a day when I came to school feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, trying to push through as teachers often do. Before I could even settle in, he appeared at my door and asked, 'Are you okay?' Not as a formality, not in passing — but with genuine concern. He listened, offered support, and checked in again later. That moment stayed with me. It reminded me that leadership isn't about authority; it's about presence. It's about seeing the people who serve alongside you and making sure they feel valued, protected, and cared for," Lowe added.
Mr. Fancher's absence is felt immediately when he is out: the building feels different, quieter, less anchored. And when he returns, the entire school lights up the moment he says his famous line: "Everyone, have a fantastic Bulldog day." It's simple, but it's become a symbol of stability, warmth, and community. Students smile. Teachers perk up. The energy shifts. That is the kind of leader he is: someone whose presence changes the atmosphere.
Students, staff, and families love him, and he loves them right back. Not in grand gestures, but in everyday actions: making sure a child has food, ensuring a teacher feels supported, advocating for services, celebrating small victories, and showing up — always showing up. His leadership is a collection of small, consistent acts of kindness that, together, create a school where people feel safe, valued, and inspired. He is a LifeChanger, not because of one moment, but because of hundreds of them, the kind that happen quietly, consistently, and with a full heart. He is the kind of principal who makes you want to be better, teach better, and show up better.
