Isabelle "Izzy" Evans was nominated by her colleague, Ashley Morales.

"Izzy is an incredible special education teacher and SLS instructor who makes a lasting difference in the lives of her students every single day. One of the things I admire most about Izzy is that she never lowers expectations for students with learning differences. Instead, she finds creative ways to make rigorous content accessible while challenging her students to believe in themselves and reach their full potential," said Morales.

She truly knows each student through their goals and aspirations, and she uses that knowledge to keep them engaged and excited about learning. Ms. Evans also cares deeply about her students' social and emotional growth. She creates a classroom where students feel supported and capable of success. Beyond her work with students, she brings positivity, reliability, and kindness to the entire school community. She is always willing to help others and leads by example through her compassion and dedication. Ms. Evans helps students see possibilities instead of limitations, and the school is a better place because of her.

I have known Izzy since she was in high school & served in a leadership role on our Best Buddies chapter. At the time, I was an Intervention Specialist for our high school MD unit and a co-advisor for our Best Buddies chapter. I always knew that Izzy would have a significant positive impact in this world. Izzy constantly went out of her way to ensure that all students felt seen, heard, loved, & included. She made time for all of my students even if it was not a formal Best Buddies-sponsored event. My students knew Izzy was a kind, safe, genuine person and they never hesitated to seek her out if they were feeling nervous or needed support. Izzy stayed in touch with me throughout her years at Miami University, staying actively involved in advocacy for people with diverse needs and abilities, always finding ways to make this world a better place for everyone. There aren’t enough words to describe how proud I am of the person and educator she has become. I have no doubt she is having an incredible impact on her students and school community. Izzy is the perfect example of putting words into action & making everyone around her feel loved, supported, and confident. She is truly the definition of a LifeChanger.
