Karly Rankin was nominated anonymously. 

Ms. Rankin is creative, determined, and hard-working.  She inspires students to be better stewards of planet Earth by actively engaging them in fun, hands-on learning activities with real science data. She makes learning fun! She creates high student engagement in her classroom every day. She believes that science should be messy, interactive, inquiry-based, and student-led. Her "outside the box" lesson planning and enthusiastic implementation create the best learning environment for all kids. Whenever she goes out in public, she'll run into a student who wants to say hello. Even students in their 20s still come up to her while we are out and about and praise her teaching.

"Teaching students about environmental science and the Earth is her life's work and will be her legacy. She's an inspiration," said the nominator.
