Ashley Palmer was nominated by a parent of a student, Jennifer Hagemann. 

"Miss Ashley made an extraordinary impact on my daughter, Kayla, during one of the most important developmental years of her life. As her Pre-K teacher, she provided far more than academic instruction. She helped build Kayla's confidence, independence, and social skills, laying the foundation for her future success. Kayla was a 'COVID baby' and had limited experience in daycare or structured classroom settings. Because I worked remotely during the pandemic, much of her early childhood was spent at home with family. Entering Pre-K was a significant transition, and she initially struggled emotionally with being around unfamiliar adults and with learning to interact with a large group of peers. Miss Ashley met these challenges with patience, understanding, and genuine compassion," said Hagemann.

"Through her nurturing approach, Miss Ashley created a classroom environment where children felt safe, supported, and encouraged to grow. She taught the curriculum in fun, engaging, and stimulating ways that made learning exciting. She encouraged Kayla to step outside of her comfort zone, try new arts and crafts projects, explore her creativity, and build friendships with classmates. As Kayla's confidence grew, so did her willingness to participate, learn, and connect with others. Miss Ashley also demonstrated exceptional dedication to her students' academic development. She worked closely with Kayla on important foundational skills, including learning her full address, memorizing my phone number, improving her handwriting, and mastering the alphabet well before the end of the school year. Her commitment to ensuring each child reached important milestones reflected her professionalism and excellence as an educator," said Hagemann.

Beyond her classroom, Ms. Palmer contributes to the school's atmosphere by fostering a culture of kindness, inclusion, and encouragement. She leads by example, showing students how to treat one another with respect while fostering a sense of belonging for every child. Her leadership is evident, not only in the confidence she inspires in her students, but in the experiences she works tirelessly to create for them.

One example that stands out is her dedication to organizing a Pre-K prom for her students. After advocating for the event for several years, she finally brought it to life. The children had an incredible time celebrating together, and it became a cherished memory for so many families.

"More than a year later, my daughter still talks about that special night with excitement and joy. Ms. Palmer understands that creating meaningful childhood memories is just as important as teaching academic skills, and she went above and beyond to give her students an experience they would never forget," said Hagemann.

"What stands out most about Miss Ashley is her unwavering commitment to creating a nurturing environment where children feel valued and capable. She consistently demonstrates the highest moral and ethical standards through her kindness, patience, and dedication to every student entrusted to her care. By the end of the school year, Kayla's transformation was remarkable. The little girl who had once struggled with separation and social interaction proudly stood on stage before a crowd to sing and perform at the end-of-year ceremony. She had also formed friendships, embraced new experiences, and developed the confidence to participate fully in school life," said Hagemann.

"These milestones did not happen by chance. They were the result of Miss Ashley's patience, encouragement, and unwavering belief in her students. Miss Ashley changed my daughter's life during a critical stage of development, and the skills, confidence, and love of learning she instilled continue to benefit Kayla today. From helping her learn foundational academic skills to creating unforgettable experiences like the Pre-K prom, Miss Ashley demonstrated the qualities of a true LifeChanger. She is exceptionally deserving of this award," said Hagemann.
