Music that Describes Shawn
Shawn Bingham was nominated by the school principal, Joshua Van Donsel.
Three words to describe Mr. Bingham are passionate, innovative, and dedicated. He opens doors, builds confidence, and helps students picture futures that they may not have imagined for themselves. Mr. Bingham has served for eight years in the U.S. Military. He has been in the Aldine School District for 6 years, including at Blanson Career and Technical Education High School. He has poured so much energy into creating a classroom where real-world experiences connect with meaningful learning every day. Mr. Bingham's goal has always been to prepare students, not just for graduation, but for life, careers, leadership, and success beyond high school.
As a U.S. Army veteran with experience in logistics and supply chain operations, Mr. Bingham brings extensive knowledge and practical experience to his everyday classroom. He believes students learn best when they can apply concepts in authentic ways. That belief led him to create "Blamazon", a student-led warehouse and inventory system on the campus. What began as a simple idea to organize school supplies quickly grew into a hands-on learning environment where students develop real workplace skills in inventory control, teamwork, customer service, leadership, and problem-solving. The enrollment in his program has doubled during his time at Blanson.
A major reason for that growth is Mr. Bingham's commitment to personally visiting middle schools and speaking directly with students about opportunities, career pathways, and the power of making intentional choices early. He strongly believes that students deserve to know that there are multiple paths to success, and he works hard to expose them to careers in logistics, supply chain management, business, and leadership before they enter high school. Many students initially have no idea what distribution and logistics is, which makes it even more important for him to connect with them, share real-world examples, and help them understand the doors Career and Technical Education can open.
Few things bring Mr. Bingham more joy than watching students grow in confidence. The students gain this through certifications, dual credit opportunities, skilled USA competitions, leadership experiences, and strong industry partnerships. Mr. Bingham strives to provide experiences that can positively change the trajectory of their lives. Every day, at the end of each class, Mr. Bingham always tells his students, "Have a wonderful day, and if no one has told you, they love you today, Mr. B loves you," since he started in Aldine ISD. He does that as a reminder that someone believes in, cares about, and wants them to succeed in life.
"At the end of the day, his mission remains simple: to make a difference in students' lives, help them discover their purpose, and prepare them for success long after they leave his classroom. Learning has never been only about the relay of facts; it's about opening doors, building confidence, and helping students picture futures they may not have imagined for themselves," said Donsel.
