Desmond Lowery received multiple nominations.

Mr. Lowery's journey as an educator has been deeply shaped by his experiences teaching in the Oak Cliff community at KIPP Destiny Middle School and at J. N. Ervin Elementary School. Working in these communities allowed him to see firsthand how education can serve as a powerful force for hope, stability, and transformation for students facing social, emotional, and economic hardships. Mr. Lowery's time in these schools strengthened his commitment to service, mentorship, and collaborative learning while teaching him the importance of building meaningful relationships within underserved communities.

When I was applying for a program and needed to write a follow-up email, he didn't hesitate to help me, even though he didn't have to. That moment showed me how committed he is to seeing students succeed. He creates a positive, supportive atmosphere and always shows himself with professionalism and kindness. He notices when someone needs guidance, and he steps in quietly, without making you feel embarrassed or alone. That's the kind of impact he has. He has helped students grow, believe in themselves, and feel supported every step of the way," said another nominator. 

"My teacher, Mr. Lowery, is a LifeChanger because he always supports and encourages his students to do their best. In African American Studies and AP World History, he made learning interesting and helped me understand difficult topics. He cares about his students' success and creates a positive classroom environment where everyone feels motivated and respected," said another nominator. 

"To me, Mr. Desmond Lowery is a great teacher. He helps the class and me and makes sure we do well. He even goes out of his way to help the class in any way he can. An interaction I had with Mr. Lowery was when he helped me with his wisdom of not giving up in stressful times," said another nominator.
