Donna Drisdom was nominated by her colleague, Linda Thompson.

"I have worked with many principals, and let me tell you - this woman takes her job seriously. That is why she has been with us for about a year and a half, and we have gone from a F school to a C school and are working towards being an A school," said Thompson.

Mrs. Drisdom's job is no small project. She works with approximately 80 people on a daily basis, including vice principals, the dean, office staff, and over 60 teachers.

"I'm the foreman custodian at this wonderful school, and we all do that we can for our children to help them learn in a great environment. Mrs. Drisdom, our wonderful principal, works with her staff to make a great work place for all of us," said Thompson.

This school year alone, Mrs. Drisdom has

• put a plan in order so all her teachers are teaching the same method and children are less confused;
• put coaches in place for all her teachers for support and helping new teachers with plans;
• allowed staff to help families for the holidays and feed 15 families during Thanksgiving;
• opened her door for anyone who has problems of any kind; and
• worked closely with her teachers to help her students do better.

She is also not afraid to pitch in with the weeding when custodians have no one to do it.

"We could have not asked for a more wonderful person to run our school, and we all love her so. Every day, it seems like she gets more done," said Thompson.
