Music that Describes Stacey
Stacey Galata was nominated by a colleague, Mike MacConnell.
"I am writing to share a few words about Stacey Galata, someone whose impact is felt not just in classrooms or rehearsal spaces, but in the lives she touches every single day," said MacConnell.
Ms. Galata is a special education teacher whose work goes far beyond lesson plans and schedules. She meets her students where they are, with patience that seems to stretch endlessly and a kind of care that never feels routine. Whether she's guiding a student through a difficult concept or celebrating a small but meaningful victory, she brings a steady warmth that makes people feel seen and valued.
Her dedication doesn't stop when the school day ends. Ms. Galata coaches the bocce team with the same enthusiasm she brings to the classroom, creating an environment where participation, confidence, and joy matter just as much as competition. She also helps direct the marching band, adding rhythm and structure while encouraging each performer to find their voice within the larger group. One of the most remarkable aspects of who she is lies in her work teaching performing arts to adults with mental challenges. In those moments, she becomes more than an instructor. Ms. Galata is a guide, a cheerleader, and often the spark that helps others discover expression and confidence they didn't know they had.
"Ms. Galata consistently puts others before herself. It's not something she announces or seeks recognition for; it's simply how she moves through the world. That said, even the most giving people need to recharge. Ms. Galata sometimes needs a little extra energy, a reminder that the care she pours into others is deeply appreciated and worth returning to her as well. In every role she takes on, Stacey Galata shows what it means to lead with compassion, to teach with heart, and to build communities where people feel they belong. She is, quite simply, someone who makes the world around her better," said MacConnell.
