LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Alex Zamora was nominated by his principal, Rachelle Ratner. 

Mr. Zamora is an exceptional second-grade STEAM magnet teacher at Stanley Mosk Elementary who truly embodies what it means to be a LifeChanger. With an unwavering commitment to students across all grade levels, Mr. Zamora is a champion for equity, innovation, and excellence in education. As the grade-level chair for second grade, he plays a vital leadership role, mentoring new teachers with patience, expertise, and a collaborative spirit. He consistently guides his team in delivering high-quality instruction while fostering a positive, supportive environment for both staff and students. His willingness to share best practices—such as physical education (PE) lessons he learned from the district PE teacher—has strengthened instruction across his grade level and reflects his commitment to collective success.

Mr. Zamora's impact extends far beyond the classroom. As a key member of the STEAM team, he leads the after-school LEGO Robotics Club, inspiring students to think critically, collaborate, and explore engineering and design. He is also a constant presence at STEAM family nights and Region North events. He proudly promotes the school at Region North magnet fairs, helping to showcase the unique strengths of their program and attract families to the community. Additionally, Mr. Zamora is always willing to go the extra mile by supporting students through after-school programs and Saturday school, ensuring they receive the additional time and guidance they need to succeed. In addition, Mr. Zamora has mentored numerous CSUN (California State University, Northridge) student teachers, shaping the next generation of educators with his deep knowledge of instructional practices and his commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners. He continuously seeks out professional development opportunities, ensuring that his teaching strategies remain innovative, inclusive, and effective for all students.
