Music that Describes Anna

Anna Presley was nominated by the assistant principal, Stephanie Coster.

Ms. Presley, a seventh-grade English Language Arts teacher at Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), consistently demonstrates what it means to be a LifeChanger. During her four years at CASC, she has made a meaningful difference in her students' lives through her commitment to building relationships, maintaining high expectations, and creating an engaging learning environment in a fully virtual school setting. Her students know that she genuinely cares about them as individuals, and this is reflected in the trust and enthusiasm they bring to her classroom each day.

Ms. Presley intentionally creates lessons that are interactive and thought-provoking, encouraging students to participate, communicate, and grow in confidence as learners. Many students who initially feel hesitant to speak during live virtual classes gain the confidence to share their ideas and participate because of the safe and encouraging environment she creates. Her ability to foster a positive school atmosphere is evident in her interactions with both students and colleagues. Her positivity, enthusiasm, and encouragement set the tone for her virtual classroom, where students feel supported while also being challenged to do their best work.

Ms. Presley actively encourages students to participate in discussions and presentations, helping them develop confidence in their communication skills. Families and learning coaches appreciate her proactive communication and dedication to ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed. She frequently reaches out to families to celebrate student growth or offer encouragement when a student is struggling, reinforcing the idea that every child is capable of success. Her approach creates a nurturing environment where students feel valued and motivated.

Ms. Presley is also a strong leader within the school community.

"When the administrative team seeks teachers willing to pilot new ideas or try innovative instructional approaches, Anna is often one of the first people we turn to. She embraces change with curiosity and professionalism, always focusing on how new strategies can improve the student learning experience," said Coster.

In addition to her classroom work, Ms. Presley serves as a teacher mentor, supporting new virtual educators as they learn instructional platforms, teaching strategies, and school processes. She willingly shares her knowledge and resources, helping colleagues grow in their own practice.

Her commitment to professional excellence is evident in her ongoing efforts to improve her teaching. Ms. Presley regularly attends professional conferences and professional development opportunities to expand her knowledge and bring new strategies back to her classroom and colleagues. She reflects on her lessons each year, making thoughtful adjustments to better meet the needs of future students. Ms. Presley openly shares ideas with her coworkers and encourages them to implement strategies that strengthen instruction across her school.

Ms. Presley's dedication to students extends beyond the classroom. She serves as a middle school Beta Club sponsor, leading meetings, tracking service hours, and supporting students as they participate in both state and national competitions. She also serves as a testing site lead during end-of-year assessments, using that time to connect with current students as well as younger students and families entering the school community. Through each of these roles, Ms. Presley models professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to doing what is best for students.

"Anna Presley exemplifies the qualities that define a LifeChanger. She builds meaningful relationships, fosters a positive and supportive school culture, leads by example among her peers, and continually strives to grow as an educator. Most importantly, she impacts students beyond academics by helping them feel confident, capable, and supported. Our school community is stronger because of Anna, and I cannot think of a more deserving candidate for the LifeChanger of the Year recognition," said Coster.
