LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Brittani Smith was nominated anonymously.

"I would like to nominate Brittani Smith for the LifeChanger of the Year Award. She brings an understanding of teamwork, positivity, compassion, friendliness, and kindness," said the nominator.

When Ms. Smith joined Socrum Elementary four years ago, the school community could tell she was wonderful with the children. She is patient with the kids, taking time with every student she meets. One of the nominator's favorite qualities of Ms. Smith is her willingness to help. One way she helps is by managing the school's kids' pack program, which provides food for students on weekends. Ms. Smith ensures that students receive their kids' packs every week, even when she is not there on Fridays to hand them out.

Another way Ms. Smith helps out at her school is by coordinating the Safety Patrol Program. While being in charge of this, she displays strong leadership skills. Students involved in the Safety Patrol Program learn to be part of the school community by helping staff ensure student safety and ensuring fellow students reach their destinations, whether by car, bus, or classroom. Being part of this program instills respect and self-discipline in the students by teaching them kindness, friendliness, and responsibility on the campus.

"It has been a privilege to work with such an amazing colleague. Brittani cares about the students, the staff, and the families she comes across every year. It is not often that you meet a substitute teacher who comes into a school and becomes such a big part of the school community by helping out as much as she has," said the nominator.
