Music that Describes Kimberly
Kimberly Minton was nominated by her friend, Rovina Hargrove.
Ms. Minton creates a true home for students who live on campus. In residential life, there is no clocking out. She works through early mornings, late nights, weekends, conflicts, homesickness, pressure, and the small moments that shape character.
Ms. Minton carried the entire school year alone, from opening day through graduation, while also working a separate full-time job. Even under that level of responsibility, she kept the house safe, structured, calm, and consistent.
For more than a decade, since 2010, Ms. Minton has consistently built a positive family atmosphere rooted in routines, clear expectations, and steady follow-through. No matter where a student is from, the foundation of her house is simple: "in this house, we are family."
Ms. Minton turns daily responsibilities into teachable moments. Chores become lessons in ownership, pride, and values. House meetings become practical lessons in communication, accountability, and respect, and she empowers students to lead portions of meetings so they practice responsible voice and leadership. Ms. Minton develops students over time by noticing strengths others miss and helping them improve. She promotes students into proctor roles and coaches them to lead with integrity, service, and responsibility to the community.
Ms. Minton works effectively with and supports students from all over the world with cultural understanding and consistent standards. She shows up beyond the dorm by supporting students at their activities and events, and also participates in the school plays, strengthening community and connection in ways students remember. Ms. Minton handles student crises with calm professionalism, firm ethics, and clear boundaries, protecting safety while preserving student dignity. Students respect her because she is fair and consistent, the rules do not shift, expectations are clear, and support is steady.
"Kimberly is a LifeChanger because she delivered and continues to deliver sustained excellence under extreme responsibility. She carried a full year without assistance, and she continues to build a stable, nurturing environment where students grow into disciplined, purposeful young adults," said Hargrove.
