Kate McCarthy was nominated anonymously. 

"Mrs. McCarthy was one of the best teachers I've ever had in school so far," said the nominator. "From day one of school last year, she had a big smile and a great, positive attitude toward every student who sat in the classroom. Around that time, I was struggling in my home and school life, and I decided to confide in Mrs. McCarthy. She went above and beyond for my family and me, helping in a way I wasn't expecting. This story is one of many as to why Mrs. McCarthy was a LifeChanger for me."

"In addition, she let me go to her classroom during lunch to do homework and be away from the loud noise. She also helped me understand topics that were more difficult. Mrs. McCarthy even pulled me aside to ask how my day was when she saw I was having a difficult time," said the nominator.

"The biggest reason she is my LifeChanger, though, is that she helped me open up about very hard emotions and provided a safe place to discuss them. To me, Mrs. McCarthy was the torch that lit the path forward, and she helped calm everyone around her. She's even the reason I discovered my passion for wanting to study English when I graduate. Mrs. McCarthy was there for everything, helping me through a very hard choice to help my family. She spoke with me every day, offering support and strength. Mrs. McCarthy always told me to do what I thought was the right and good thing, and so I did, and did not regret it," said the nominator.
