Mr. Serviss is always smiling and waving to everyone around him, no matter who they are or whether or not he knows them. Mr. Serviss always makes class feel fun, making him fun to have as a teacher. As an educator, he takes his class seriously, but still makes it enjoyable for his students. Mr. Serviss makes his students look forward to coming to class. He motivates them to put in the most effort they can into their work.

He may be Dr. Serviss now, but to me he’ll always be Mr. Serviss—the teacher who saw his students clearly, even when we didn’t see ourselves. He knew when it mattered, understood how we truly felt, and always showed up with genuine care. He wasn’t just an educator; he was a mentor, a listener, a supporter, a counselor, and a friend. I graduated in 2017, yet he still checks in and remembers the little things about each of us. That kind of consistency and compassion is rare. He treated every student like family, remembering us individually and making each of us feel valued. That’s the kind of educator who truly changes lives. Joe Serviss has been a staple in my family’s life for several years. While my girls have never had him as a teacher, he has been directly involved with them during their high school years. He was a mentor to both during VEX events, practices, and sports. He has also been a safe space if they needed someone other than their parents or during scary moments at school. Always with a smile on his face and a generous amount of wisdom. Thank you Joe for giving us as parents the comfort knowing our girls were always covered if they needed to work through stuff with another adult.
Mr.Serviss was one of the most impactful teachers i’ve had in a long time, especially in my high school experience so far. He was one of my biggest supporters and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Mr.Serviss helped me through some of the hardest days, and made all of my best days better. I always looked forward to his class and getting to talk to him and joke around with him. He always brought a very light and positive mood to the schools environment, and was one of the only adults I fully trusted and knew full heartedly would be there for anything and everything. I cannot express how much he impacted me not only educationally, and emotionally, but also changed my perspective on life and so many things. One of the bests for sure.

in my 12 years of School, Dr Serviss is one of the very few Teachers that actually cares about his students. Serviss Is someone who I can talk to about anything and everything. Overall A guy that I enjoy being around as he is Very funny but can Also Be serious when you need him to be. He made his classroom a place You would wanna be at as Every room he walks in I believe he can lighten it up.
Dr Serviss is one of those teachers that helped me get out of my shell. He helped me and others into guiding steps into making our business ideas and helped us succeed.

Dr.Serviss always has motivating stories to tell, often inspiring me to take risks. Earlier this school year, I was struggling with adapting to my online college classes to the point where I wanted to drop them. I spoke to Dr. Serviss, and I decided to "grow up" and be "mature," and to take the risks of completing those classes. I ended with A's in all of my classes. I really appreciate the support Dr. Serviss provides, as he is understanding of each individual's story and their point of view.

Mr. Serviss has changed my life in ways that no teacher ever has. When I used to think of teachers and school, words like draining and aggravating came to mind. When I met Mr. Serviss in my freshman year, that perspective changed completely. He sees the world of education differently and makes the atmosphere more positive and welcoming. He sees students for who they are, along with their potential. His classroom is uplifting and motivating as he explains words like grit and perseverance and what those actions can truly do for our futures. He takes the time and effort to build relationships with students who have all different backgrounds and may need that stable person in their lives. For me personally, he is that stable person in my life. I feel comfortable coming to him with advice and personal problems, along with school issues I need help with. He makes me laugh on my worst days and motivates me to try my best in any situation. I have gained better skills in public speaking, confidence, and work ethic, and have become a better person overall. I thank him for building a close relationship with me and showing me what it's like to have a teacher who cares.
Mr. Serviss has changed my life with his teaching because he helped me see how creative I was. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur and his class really gave me a real world example of what it would be like for me. I learned many valuable lessons that I will carry on with me after High School. His classroom has remained a safe place for many students such as myself showing you the great impact he has on students. Lastly, he should win this award because even while being very persistent and hard working while trying to earn his doctorate in college he still showed up for his students and believed in them along the way.

when I was struggling Mr.serviss was there for me, comforted me and checked up on me even after to make sure I was okay.
Its very difficult to find a teacher who loves to teach and loves their students and I'm very grateful to have had a teacher like that

Mr. Serviss has been a teacher to remember all throughout high school. Not only has he taught me everything I need to know about business, financials, and entrepreneurship, he also taught me valuable life lessons that can be used outside the classroom. I was always told to be aware of my time on this planet, and to make the absolute most of it. He also taught me life lessons about friends, family, etc. I have really enjoyed taking his classes and will definitely remember all I’ve been taught.
